High class dim sum in intimate environment

Review of Zen (Intercontinental)
3

Zen serves high-class dim sum in dining room that is smaller and more subdued than most places of its type, giving it an intimacy absent elsewhere. The centerpiece of the dining room is the glassed-in kitchen where chefs prepare dishes under the watchful eye of the patrons that surround them. We booked a private room, which was elegant except for the fact that the one we had ("Xi") shared a door with the noisy dishwashing room, which marred the experience. Our bill for 4 adults and 2 children came in at over at a whopping RMB 1000 -- though two items on the menu (fresh-squeezed apple juice at RMB 180 and a soup of the day at over RMB 100) accounted for nearly a third of the bill.
