construction work going on: dust everywhere, very unhygienic
I had a pretty bad tooth ache and made an appointment there for the next morning already. They wanted me to be there at 9am, but even though I was stuck in traffic and arrived at 9.20am, there was no one there/it was closed, the staff just arrived a few minutes after me.
When I stepped into the clinic I couldn't believe my eyes. The whole place is under construction, and of course I know that when you renovate something there'll always be dust, BUT this is a medical institute, it's just not acceptable that everything is dusty, dirty and in a big mess. After I saw that horrible condition (and espec. when I saw that the assistants took their white medical uniform (however that is called) out of a bag just lying around and the uniforms were rather dirty and very dusty too, I just left - even though I had a really bad tooth ache - but it just seemed like a very unhygienic place. In addition, they told me that the doctor (who asked me to be there at 9am) will only arrive a bit before 10. So I found it quite rude to ask me to be there at 9pm when the doctor only arrives at 10am anyway.
I cannot say anything about how it looks when there's no renovation work going on plus I have not seen the treatment room itself, but the main room and the kind of "lab" where they store their materials and obviously prepare it, but a thick dust layer EVERYWHERE on the floor plus dust particles everything in the air (that made me cough a lot), that's just not acceptable.
So if hygiene is important for you when you go to the dentist (well, it should be the most important thing in my eyes), then I can only recommend everyone: don't go there - at least not untill the renovation work is finished.

To Tinaaa:
I am Jane, Chief Dentist from Joinway Dental Clinic.
I had read your review in The Beijinger of April 2 that was forwarded to me by my friend. I felt so sorry but the facts you stated then were true. Except to do better, words are useless.
The construction was a nightmare and much worse than we anticipated. The state-of-the-art equipment we ordered was severely delayed in reaching us. If I could have known these things in advance, we could have planned better.
We stopped dental service during January and February for the renovation. We also stopped service during mid July to the end of August to complete our customer service system. Your review is a good encouragement to me to work harder. Meanwhile, all the patients who visited us in the past seven months were offered a free teeth cleaning..Did you receive our notice? If your mobile was power off, we sent you an email.
Though Joinway Dental still has many shortcomings, this month after the renovation, we have received strong positive feed back. One patient, who knew what we did after your review, encouraged me to write this reply. He said Joinway Dental Clinic is still worthy of your trust.
I invite you to come in for a lunch or coffee so I can personally apologize and show you the steps we have taken to address your concerns.
I hope to hear from you:
Much thanks.
Jane Zhang
