Review of Beijing United Family Hospital
Expensive. Here is an example: To see a chiropractor, it costs 3,000RMB for the first appointment - 1,000 for the doctor and 2,000 for the x-rays. That is higher than the cost at a clinic in the US mainland. They also have a reputation for ordering lots of tests, which can drive up the cost of a visit to about 10,000. So expensive that some international medical insurance companies put it on their HCP (high cost provider) list, which they refuse to pay for. If your insurance pays, then more power to you. But if not, beware!

It seems that they like an elitarian touch and want to keep 老百姓 out. If you have a serious illness, there are several 10 class IIIa hospitals in Beijing which provide excellent treatment (you won't be alone though).
If you have a normal desease simply go to the nearest hospital (or try Chinese medicine first).

I have just moved to Beijing and am in desperate need to see an osteopath or chiropractor for an old neck injury. Just booked an appointment at the Beijing United Family Hospital. Crazy expensive but just thought that was what you had to pay for it over here...Stupid of me yes...
A bit freaked out by the idea of my insurance not paying for it so was wondering if you could recommend somewhere cheaper and potentially not on an HCP list?

I am by no means wealthy but I have been going there for my prescription medicine and the occasional blood test, for the prescription dosage, for 10 years and I find the place is fine and the doctors are qualified and they know what a thyroid is. I would rather trust this place than any local place that might give me some locally made dry-wall medicine.
A doctors visit and 6 months supply of my prescription medicine for me is around RMB 2200.
Not unreasonable.
If you have serious medical problems before you come to China then just get back on the plane and go back because that is the way it is here, sorry.
