Review of Da Dong Roast Duck

Although quite pricy, Dadong definitely lives up to its reputation as one of the top Beijing Duck restaurants in the world. With a beautiful interior, the restaurant had a great vibe and incredible service (although the exterior of the restaurant features some great Chinglish, with a sign that signaled that we had indeed arrived at the famous “Chef Dong’s Braised Sea-Cucumber Restaurant”). I got a chance to try out a wide variety of dishes, from the squirrel fish, which was perhaps too strongly flavored but still very well done, to eggplant, which was cooked perfectly. And, of course, I was able to try out the duck, which was absolutely delicious (as always). Despite claims that Da Dong has the highest quality ducks, I thought that the duck was perhaps only marginally better than other top duck restaurants. Nevertheless, I have to say that the overall dinner that I had was spectacular.
