I've lived in Beijing for 2 years now and this is my first review of a restaurant. We went to Ras last night (the location next to 2 Kolegas) and the whole ordeal there was so bad that I had to let others know.
A friend and I decided that it would be cool to eat there before a concert that was playing next door, so we show up and decide to sit outside. The waiter come over with the menu's, and we proceeded to choose our meals over the next 10 minutes. Pretty much half the menu was not available to be made (either they didn't have the ingredients or the waiter just didn't know why that item was still on the menu). Finally we settled on a few things (stews with injera bread, some salads, and drinks). The bugs out on the patio can be a little much so we went inside only to find the floors of the restaurant and tabletops absolutely filthy. It looked like the waiters just picked up the plates after the previous diners left but did nothing else. The food came quickly but instead of injera bread, we got day old Chinese-style French baguettes. It was terrible. The meat was poorly cooked and hard to chew and digest. The lamb had a strange aftertaste, there were bugs on the plates. It was just bad! We asked the waiter where is the actual bread and he stared back at us and said (in Chinese)'We don't have it, what am I supposed to do?' The place is poorly run (the waiters stand around and shout at each other), the management seems a little bit lost in their own restaurant (I saw at least 3 people that seemed like they were running the show just wandering around outside paying little attention to what the diners were going through. To top it off, the food is overpriced and we all got sick afterwards. I've had some of the WORST digestion problems I've ever had since moving here. And that says a lot. I wouldn't recommend anyone to patronize this place.
