Below Average Student Dive
I saw this establishment termed itself a 'home away from home'. After visiting this place for the quiz one night I think 'the orphanage' might be more fitting. The clientele of general student misfits somehow contrive to create an atmosphere that starts at pretentious, and moves on to delusions of grandeur as the night progresses.
We arrived about 6.15pm and were just in time to grab the last seats available at the bar. The place was packed out with people trying desperately to make a cup of coffee or a coke last two hours before the quiz (8pm) and happy hour (8-10pm) started.
Some food was ordered and service was par for the course for BJ - mixed up orders, dishes not appearing etc... Didn't eat myself, but the chips were pretty woeful and the rest of the food was described as average at best. At these sort of places that has to be expected though. The 'Gourmet' sauce tray ambitiously priced at 30RMB pretty much sums up the whole Lush experience. Has to be said the manager was very helpful and a free round of cakes duly arrived with apologies.
The quiz was the saving grace of the evening (along with the 40RMB ice cold buckets of ale), really well thought out and hosted, its just a shame it's wasted on a place with a crowd like this. Quiz Night purists would be apoplectic with the shenanigans going on - The winning team had ten members with half of them on their laptops, and seemed to have found an extra half dozen points in the 10ft their paper traveled after being marked for the one round they could not cheat on....Aah the yoof ov 2day!
Not in a rush to return.

Re: Below Average Student Dive
The wi-fi at Lush is disabled at 8pm on Quiz Night to prevent cheating.

How does this prevent cheating? Almost everyone I know has 3G on their phone/ipad/kindle anyway.
