Nice place!
Review of R Lounge
This Lounge is really nice! A great design, very trendy and it's really big. There are comfortable couches and when I went, a great soul band was playing called "Jackson Twinz and Zero." I really enjoyed myself. We were there on a Tuesday and got a bottle of wine for the price of 2 glasses! I'll come back next time with lots of friends

Re: Nice place!
That's strange, I went there once and it was really not nice! The design was very old-fashioned, and the couches felt like wearing medieval hairshirts for torture. The band sounded like an out of tune Indonesian band trying to cover a tired Filipino band trying to imitate a cheesy soul band-called a "Bunch of Zeros Not Named Jacksonz." And the wine, we got two small glasses of stale purple vinegar for the price of two bottles of French champagne. I really made myself miserable there!
I will not bring a group of friends there next time!
But I love your perkiness Caroline! It sounds so genuine!

While Caroline's review is somewhat suspect, given that she became a registered member just moments before posting it, I'll take issue with Squid's response.
R Lounge *is* a pretty nice lounge, especially for a hotel bar.
The buy-2-glasses, get-a-bottle promotion *is* a freaking bargain - you can get a bottle of wine for less than 200 kuai, which is a steal in this town at a lounge.
And the Jackson Twinz *are* one of the best bands regularly playing in Beijing. Far better than the horrid house band at Xiu, as well as Blu's Solidaz (who aren't bad)...
And I *have* taken friends there.

Re: Nice place!
Clearly my post was a parody, and if anyone couldn't see that, alas, what can one do.
The point is that when someone decides to use a beneficial community information service for their own little free advertising space, without being willing to pay anything but worse, while trying to do it in a deceiving manner of disguising themselves as a genuine customer-they have shown that they are part of a business that really does not operate in a honest fashion. That is not only bad for the site itself, but makes all other honest reviews suspect. Why would someone want to patronize a place that thinks its customers are so stupid they they deserved to be fooled?
Do you believe her review is honest? If you don't then she is probably affiliated with the organization in some way, and that means the organization is deceptive. Maybe they will over-charge your credit card, or give you fake alcohol.

Re: Nice place!
I hardly think that a little bit of "advertising" with Chinese characteristics counts as outright fraud.
Accusing a place of crimes (overcharging your credit card) or just disgustingness (fake alcohol) are entirely different levels than a shady, though harmless, PR campaign. Wow, talk about sour.
Furthermore... why aren't you paying cash just for that reason?

Re: Nice place!
Thumbs down for the deceptive and somewhat laughable PR ploy. However, I agree somewhat with AnNing in that this is a far stretch from harmful acts of fraud. I have my doubts as to how real the alcohol is however, this is Beijing after all. XD
Btw I enjoyed reading the parody =]

Re: Nice place!
Actually, I realized afterwards that the R Lounge is in the Renaissance hotel, which is an international brand under the Marriott company.
That means that the alcohol is real.
