You can if you have to...eat it I mean

Review of Schindler's Tankstelle
3

I went there twice. First time we were 2 and the second time 4 people. Its not the exact same taste as in Austria or Germany but its ok. The first time I had the Eisbein or Stelze (the pig leg? in english) and it tasted pretty good, the second time we had some Aufschnitt and Aufstrich, stuff you can smear on bread. I dont remember too well, but have the feeling that it wasnt good, also there was a big lack of bread to smear it on.

The service is not well trained and dont know the foods, very difficult to tell them that the food is not good, if they dont have a clue what real German food should taste like...

I didnt go to any other pseudo German restaurants yet so I for me this is the best Beijing has to offer as German food. I guess you just have to live with it.

You don't (have to live with it, that is) - you should try Bodenseestube / Café Konstanz, they are pretty authentic. And you get an authentic German bakery as an extra. And no, I am not the owners cousin or anything... Wink

GermanChinese, learn English !
Kate, it used to be authentic, however, Germany
has banned smoking in restaurants

Re: You can if you have to...eat it I mean

Edwin, good point about the smoking. Although in some parts of Germany there are more loopholes to the rule than anything. Bodenseestube is smoke-free on weekends, by the way.

And sorry, but why should GermanChinese learn English? We're in China, I'm assuming he's German - it's not like this is a spelling bee and some of the German dishes are really a bit hard to translate. Hate to sound bitchy, but as long as his English is better than most expats' Chinese.... Angel
