Since moving to the GuLou area from Wudaokou, a quick trip to 13 Club is what I miss most about that area. Though Chinese people are not very dedicated moshers, and most of the rock bands that poot around Beijing are contrived and redundant, 13 manages to consistently please. Unfortunately, perhaps due to its largely Chinese patronage, the drinks are dirt-cheap but the tickets pretty pricey. Further, the drinks suck, but when I discovered the bartendresses were so unfamiliar with tending bar that I could get a "whiskey and coke, no ice, no coke" for 10元, about 5-10 shots of whiskey, I had some pretty fun, but rough, nights of slam dancing.

If you're not into playing bumper-bodies, the place is spacious and accommodating. If you're not into rock or metal, you might as well go to D-22 and fart around with the hipsters.

Also, despite being a hub of the Beijing rock scene, I've never seen a fight here other than the one I got into after a drunken Fin's friendliness spontaneously transformed into paranoid schizophrenia. If you're reading this, Mr Taekwondo Master, I'll kick your ass again. ;)
