Poor Taste
Review of The Kro's Nest
I went to Kro's nest Sanlitun - the place looked impressive until I was greeted by a live crow inside a cage near the entrance. It was squawking during the entire time I was there - unnecessarily cruel to have a bird caged in a restaurant like that - especially a noisy restaurant. I will no longer visit this restaurant so long as they keep live birds there. Mention it to the waiters or owner when you go there.

One star for virogen's "review". You were going to eat a pizza? No meat or cheese I guess since you love all life so terribly.

Re: Poor Taste
Agreed with you, Virogen.
Walls, your snide remark aside, a person doesn't have to be vegan/vegetarian to think that caging birds (or any animal) is cruel. As it turns out, I don't eat meat and I only eat rennet-free cheese. Though I don't frequent Kro's all that often, thanks to Virogen's tip, I will be saying something to the owner next time I'm there. I would hope that if they knew it was upsetting patrons, they'd take the bird home and give it freer rein (or, even more optimistically, think about what it means to lock up an animal that's meant to fly).

Re: Poor Taste
I think those caged birds are a pain in the arse more than anything.
I f-ing hate it when you pitch up to some nice coffee shop/teahouse by a lake and then all you can hear is some squawking bird 50 metres away.

Re: Poor Taste
To reply to Walls,
Actually, I am vegan, and was only there for a company meeting. I was hoping to see if they had any veggie options, which they do, but likely not vegan. I didn't bother inquiring any further though because once I saw the caged bird I knew I wasn't going to support the restaurant by actually ordering anything.
