i used to go to Hosa (2100 per year) and hated it every time, too crowdy, too noisy, too chinese. switched to Ozone (奥力健身，阳光上东 location） laowai in china always should burgain, i got 2200 rmb for 6 months card, now they increased the prices, but still it would not be smth 6 or 8K!
my gym is on lido, upper east side, love the classes, mostly all of the chinese teachers speak basic eng, there are 2 or 3 foreigh teachers. Various classes (cycling, pilates, pump, belly dancing, suspension pro), no crowds of chinese grannies :), usually 30-40 % of the attendies are foreigners, that creates really nice international atmosphere.
big choise of equipment.
used to take classes with a couch,all chinese, none speaks eng, found my couch was not professional enough to consult me on nuitrition or even measure my body fat correctly, after 10 classes (220 rmb per class) decided to quit. money totally not worth the private classes. that's why i give 4 stars only. Also there is no proper juice bar in the gym.
The big advantage is a clean and big pool with warm water(!) 
there are 2 saunas in changing rooms.

Tell me how satisfied you are after they shut down mysteriously without warning.
You have to understand, i did not personally experienced this. If any business is not running well, you have to sucrafise and cut something, it is normal thing. Certailny, it is horrible they did not warn customers. But if you ve been in China for long enough you know the backstage rules. Lets say you came to gym to buy a membership card, sales manager sold it to you for 8K (the same sales manager could sell it for 3K to another customer), 2,5K sales person gave to club's owners and the rest kept for himself. once the club shut down, how much money could you claim? Dilemma.. Coz I do not think Ozone's owners really know the exact profit their sales make on foreign people.
Sure I can be wrong, this is just my surmise.
I recommend when you go to a gym to read the regulations book, I saw it on Ozone in eng and chinese. They have priveleggies for parking (5rmb for 3 hours, instead of 10 rmb per an hour), i also got 10 days free memmership cards for 2 of my friends, one of them later bought the annual card.
It is not secrete that there is no protection or refunds for membership cards when suddenly you come and gym is closed.
I bought 3 membership cards before, 1st at Baly gym at Guanghualu for more than 2 years period, after less then 1 year gym was closed without any notification. No refund. 2nd card aws at Ozon Dawanglu branch, I had 2 years period, gym was closed less then 1 year, no refund. 2 weeks ago Suhuiqiao brange was closed. I had 1 year card, used 11 months). However it is terrible.
Be careful with all gyms and OZON specially, do not buy long term cards and Sihuiqiao Ozon is closed now.
