Review of April Gourmet
5

When I discovered April Gourmet it was at the Xingfucun one by Chunxiu Lu I was the happiest man alive. I had been going to the Jenny Lou's (and getting brutally beaten in the wallet) once per month to pick up essentials. But now, I always go to Aprils. Its my first choice and it is my only choice. I have been so impressed with the customer service at their Dongsi shitiao branch and their other branch. Just last Christmas, one of the girls behind the counter, with a big smile on her face said "Merry Christmas, sir." Much of the staff doesn't speak English (I'm sorry, but you CANNOT expect them to, this is China, and I get very angry when I hear foreigners yelling at Chinese people to speak in English) but the ones that do always seem happy to at least make the effort and help you fumble through with Chinese (always a fun time for all).

I have NEVER had a bad customer service experience at any of the stores, I find many of the prices relatively comparable to back home (usually plus or minus about 50 cents to a dollar USD.) Of course, some of the stuff is obviously going to be more expensive than back home.

I'm actually so impressed that I can do two weeks of grocery shopping for myself and my flatmate (we split the bill) for a total of 800 (400 each). This is comparable to what I was paying for myself, maybe about 60-70rmb cheaper, back home in Massachusetts. I love April Gourmet, great quality, great service, friendly store environment. 5 stars.

P.S. I should mention I've never used the delivery service... I usually just take a taxi home. So, in-store experience is great, totally worth at least a visit. Delivery service, unfortunately I cannot offer too much in-put on that.
