Used to adore this place and in all these years I had always took there visitors - never failed to impress AND eat well.
Now, I went back there last week to celebrate with some friends. I was careful ordering, as I knew prices had increased (and I was the one paying the bill). However, quite a few of their RMB 170 dishes (that are the 'cheapest') were already 'finished', despite it was 18.30 in the evening.
So, we had to resort also to other dishes in the range of rmb 250-350.
We ordered sparkling mineral water and some soft drinks (a can of Sprite is rmb 50) and not the juices, that are now priced at rmb 150/glass.
Can't remember if they charged for the 'normal' water.
Result: in total I spent approx. rmb 2200 for 5 people and left slightly hungry.
Portions are small and despite I normally eat little that was truly too little.
Considering that:
- menu is now very limited
- prices are ridiculosly expensive without good reason
- portions are really too small and a lot of dishes are charged per person
- the service decreased significantly
- they don't even offer you a complimentary fruit platter (now charged rmb 270, if I rememebr correctly)
- the atmosphere changed for the worst (no more soft buddhist music but more glamorous funky jazz)
I really don't see any good reason to go back there.
