Infused by the basmati, masala, and chilli spice aroma the axons in my nasal cavity wasted no time in informing the brain that the smells of home has dawned on Beijing and that the tastes of my childhood is back. Fast forward to the third samoosa and just as I dipped the meaty delicasy into a tasty sauce, the sights and scenes of the Bo Kaap awakened me to a plate of Malay curry with soft roti bread.

No knife and fork or chop sticks has ever forced me to ruin a hearty meal with formality. My fingers formed the roti to form around that hot mutton curry and all resistance crumbled as wave after wave of South African Indian culture filled my senses and just as heartburn slowly settled in a chocolate milkshake saved the day.
