This place is not all that it's hyped up to be. There are a variety of different activities but they're all quite run down. It's a good 15 minute walk from the main lodge to get to these activities along a cement road; it's not even a hike in the woods. The horse-riding is just around a very weedy track. For a place that boasts accommodating large groups, there are only a handful of horses, half of which are used by staff to take you around, only 4 go-karts, so it's silly to go as a group because you'll have to wait a while for your turn. Indoor badminton and basketball is in the attic of the lodge, not even the size of a standard court. Both indoor and outdoor swimming pools were not filled with water, and this was right in the heat of summer. Toilets and showers in the rooms were leaking, though they did fix it right away. Given this can be normal for Chinese standards, it can be forgivable. What irks me most was the bad attitude of the staff who were not there to welcome you to have fun, but were solely concerned with making sure you paid up for your turn at the activities, or that you did not cut into their lunch break. There are way better places to go to enjoy Beijing's outdoors.
