Review of Dongli Brewery
4

My friends and I were having a good time outside the 5th ring road and the restaurant we were at was shutting down. We decided to give Dongli Brew Pub a try to keep the party going. After a short cab ride, we got a table and were told that if we scan a QR code, we might win a prize. We all got discounts on our beer with one lucky SOB getting a free beer. Additionally, we all won a coupon for two free beers if we return the next day.

There is a variety of ales, porters, IPAs, and lagers on the menu. I had low expectations, but the beer was suprisingly good. I sampled 8 beers for 100 RMB. Some were easy drinking wheat beers. Some were nutty, flavorful ales. Some were dark, and malty. A good, tasty variety.

The brewing equipment is on display ala Great Leap or Panda Brewing and the bar is clean and spacious.

We didn't try the food, but sausages seem to be the focus of the menu.

I was disapointed that there were no mixed drinks for one of us that prefers cocktails, but one can hardly fault a tap room for focusing on beer.

Dispite the listing, the bar is located in Shangdi. It a teastement to how fast and how far craft beer is growing in Beijing. There's nothing like it in that area, so if you are in Shangdi on business or visiting pengyou s, it's a solid place to keep drinking until 1 am.
