Aimo Town
Fangjia Hutong restaurant is full of ethnic minority accessories, with a long menu of Yunnan dishes geared towards groups - a big wooden bucket of fried rice gratin (RMB 15) is the ideal starchy complement to tender suanla quanyu (酸辣全鱼, RMB 42) – a whole fish in a sour and spicy sauce. No meal should begin here without a dish of palate-cleansing boheye, crunchy mint leaves dressed in sesame oil (RMB 16). Service is efficient.

Cenci Coffee
Cenci is the first venue you’ll see as you enter the gates of Fangjia 46 – grab a window sofa and get your bearings over a cup of coffee (from RMB 15) or tea. The walls are decorated with photos of stars from vintage Hollywood and framed renderings of philosophical (ie. we were unable to decipher their meaning) Chinese slogans, while the central pillars feature paeans to the joys of coffee. Simple cafe snacks are available, as is Wi-Fi.

Spring Trees Restaurant (Zao Chun Er Yue)
Named for the two fine old trees growing through the roof of the main dining room in the original Andingmen location, Sichuan restaurant Spring Trees is a refuge from its car park surroundings. The pleasant courtyard-inspired interior is rustic chic, the service is excellent and the prices won’t break the bank, but the offerings are inconsistent. Choose from Koushui Ji ("Mouthwatering Chicken"), roasted rabbit legs, fresh haddock with green and red peppers and more. English menu.
