EAT: Burger Days, New Q Mex Menu, Wagas Breakfast Deal, Pizza at Jing-A Beer Garden at Xian

First up in this week's EAT, all your favorite burger joints are stepping it up with discounts to encourage burger awareness. As a part of this month's Burger Days promotion, you can now try numerous burgers you have yet to make space for before placing your vote in this year's Burger Cup. Once you've stuffed your face, mark your calendar for May 28's Burger Festival: a day outdoors filled with burgers, booze, music, fun, and more burgers.

Q Mex has updated their menu, further expanding their already huge offerings in Sanlitun South. The main focus seems to be on seafood, adding fish tacos (RMB 68), a fish wedge salad (RMB 55), a Mexican layer salad (RMB 48), and a selection of mussels, clams, and prawns to the menu.

We were especially intrigued by the dessert section, which now features XXL dessert nachos (RMB 65, to share between three to five people). Let your imagination run wild (pictured at top): cinnamon sweetened flour nachos layered with vanilla custard, mixed fruits, nuts and grape jam topped off with caramel sauce, condensed milk, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and a jar of chocolate sauce are all at your disposal. Messy as it was, it was incredible. There was so much sugar that we'll show it to you again (with understandably shaky hands):

In other food news around town, we have rediscovered the joys of discounted breakfast at Wagas. If you visit between Monday to Friday before 11am, you can bag a breakfast sandwich for half-price. It discounts a gouda, avocado, and scrambled egg sandwich to just RMB 26 instead of RMB 52, a bargain at that price but on the steep side at the original sticker. 

We also reunited with Xian Bar's pizzas at the Jing-A Beer Garden launch last weekend. You might be thinking, "a beer garden – that's not really food related." But, Xian's beer garden happy hour also applies to their pizzas. Our favorite was the truffle pizza (RMB 68), which is served two-for-one between 5-8pm every day.
