Keep Calm and Drink On: Third Annual Autumn Craft Beer Festival Transforms into Beer Week Due to Permit Issues

In an interesting turn of events, Slow Boat's third Annual Autumn Craft Beer Festival might come to us in a different format, and be turned into a beer week instead.

The festival was supposed to be held at East Hotel on September 23-25, with 12 Chinese breweries having already confirmed their attendance: Arrow Factory, Great Leap, Slow Boat, Jing-A, Nbeer, Panda, No. 18, Master Gao, Boxing Cat, Cider Republic, Harvest, and Bubble Lab. According to founder and owner Chandler Jurinka, “there’s some permit issues, so we are going to do a beer week. Breweries outside Beijing will send their beers to us, and beer-lovers can celebrate the whole week at different venues.”

Now, the beer festival will be held between September 23-30 at participating venues such as Slow Boat Brewery, Great Leap Brewing, Jing-A, Panda Beer, NBeer, and Arrow Factory, around Beijing. Beers from breweries around China will be put on a guest tap in these brewpubs for one week, or until supplies last. The participating breweries are as follows:

Visiting breweries:

  • 18 Brewery – Wuhan
  • Boxing Cat Brewery – Shanghai
  • Harvest Brewery – Chengdu
  • Nanjing Craft Brewery – Nanjing
  • Bubble Lab Brewery – Wuhan
  • Xian Brewing – Xian
  • Cider Republic – Shanghai

Local breweries:

  • Slow Boat Brewery
  • Great Leap Brewing
  • Jing-A Brewing
  • NBeer
  • Panda Beer
  • Arrow Factory

As compensation, winners will be randomly selected for a wide range of beer related prizes, gift certificates, and other swag from each venue and awarded to festival goers who complete each of the attending brewery’s beers.
