Having relocated to the same building as Arrow Factory Brewing, this tiny British-style gastropub is pretty much an extension of the beloved hutong institution. The cottage pie with buttery green peas is the perfect comfort food, but if you want a light lunch try the Scotch egg served with homemade piccalilli pickles. Fish and chips comes with a trio of sauces and hand-cut, twice-cooked chips of distinction.

Molly Malone’s isn’t Irish-owned, but nor is it a caricature “Oirish” pub. There are pints of Guinness and Kilkenny, as well as a few Irish whiskeys. Like any self-respecting Irish pub, Molly Malone’s features a sushi bar. More familiar bar snacks inlcude Irish stew and beer-battered fish and chips.

Westside

Westside is, strangely, located in the CBD, so there’s no need for Line 4. In the afternoon sun there really is no reason to leave the terrace – it is a little reminiscent of the establishments City bankers would slope off to in London’s Docklands. However, if you never venture in you’ll miss out on the best insight into England in this city. The bar itself is not remarkably of Albion in itself but the photos are something else. Lord Mountbatten, Her Majesty The Queen Mother and Arthur Askey among others grace the walls.

[CLOSED] First Floor

This pub is a canny extension of its elder sibling, 2F. Bigger, more rugged and with more strings to its bow, it’s the Serena to 2F’s Venus. With a promising whiskey selection and huge roster of draft and bottled beers, First Floor excels where 2F has never really bothered. That also applies to the food – the burgers, salads, steaks and nachos all hit the spot. 2F regulars won’t be alienated, though. Highlights include a lengthy martini list, two types of sangria for summer drinking on the terrace, honey mandarin mojitos, and the Cherry Chocolate Freeze, a deadly vanilla ice cream shooter.
