Opening 开幕式 18.02.2021,7pm

Exhibition: 18.02. - 24.03.2021

This exhibition transcribes Dani’s journey as an Australian artist living and working in China. She has called Guangzhou home for 3 years, recently moving to Beijing in August, 2020. Dani’s abstract paintings provide an intimate window into her personal world; and reflect a changing mindset.

“Manuscript Series” mirrors the artists’ challenges, frustrations and fears whilst searching for beauty within the darkness; she references Calligraphic and Landscape traditions within her use of line and colour.

“Quarantine Series” reflects the joy and gratitude Dani felt returning to China from Australia in March of last year. Extending her colour palette to incorporate metalic paints and Chinese ink; a symbolic change to represent an important shift in her own consciousness and within her art practice.

Hi beautiful, glad this event is not a commercial! My name is Doria and I am initiating a weekly sharing circle event to help everyone reconnect with our true-self. We will talk about our feelings, and I (or you) will bring up different topics to share each time (eg. self-love, relationships, stress, gratitude in life).

Everyone in the sharing circle is equal. And the most important thing is to keep an open mind!

About me: I am an adventurer, a mindfulness practitioner, an ordinary person who found her true-self after years of exploration. It is my first time to start an event with others. I dont know what will happen or even anyone would be interested, but I have all good intentions and I believe we all need support from each other!

If you are ready to discover yourself, drop me a msg!

Namaste:)

BACA CONNECTION is an art programme cosponsored by BACA Art Centre and Beijing Academy of Creative Arts (BACA), aiming to connect more alumni of the University of the Arts London with the Chinese public. Through open call of artists for the exhibition "The Grammatical Structure of Art", BACA CONNECTION attempts to discuss the influence of different cultural and artistic education systems on individual aesthetic concepts of artistic creation from a unique perspective.

The individual creative practices are developed in a frame formed after restructuring of the art grammar. The symbolic expression, the use of colors, the study of materials, the historical context, the self-attribution of media, and the public relations of this grammatical structure all helped shape individuals’ intrinsic attributes and their own visual experience. The visual experience displayed in the "The Grammatical Structure of Art" exhibition will be a diverse expression, including painting, installation, sculpture, photography video and so on.

We expect artists from different cultural backgrounds to take part in discussions on current and future innovations in art practices as well as art education programmes. A series of art talks will also be held during the exhibition "The Grammatical Structure of Art”.

Join us in reading The Great Wall in 50 Objects, a look into the illuminating history of China’s most celebrated landmark from 2nd century BCE through the late-20th century. Author William Lindesay tells the stories of 50 carefully selected artifacts that were inspired by the Wall, like Abraham Ortelius’s pioneering world atlas and Kafka’s ‘At the Building of the Great Wall.’ Join us in reading the book before our live chat with the author.

William Lindesay has spent more than 800 days on the Great Wall during his many years in China, completing “the most successful foreign exploration of the Great Wall” according to China’s Xinhua News Agency. The British researcher has conducted extensive surveys on the Beijing portion of the Great Wall, publishing three books on the subject including documentation of his 2,470km solo journey Alone on the Great Wall. Organizing efforts to protect this wonder of the world, William has founded several societies and programs that engage in Great Wall conservation. In 2001 he founded “International Friends of the Great Wall”, a Hong Kong based society to assist China’s cultural relics protection team in preserving the Great Wall.
