Yue Space brings you ambient, krautrock and drone on Sunday, November 11th. See three bands, Scattered Purgatory, Ruo Tan and Prince Heng.

The lingering atmosphere of Scattered Purgatory is the silent noise in the experimental music. It is difficult to describe it in words. Even without the traditional music/song/singing pop music framework, the sound is still very sweet, deep and rich, and full of imagination.

Ruo Tan's music takes risks in the experiment. Through the use of minimalist percussion and effects, it depicts a fierce sneak sensation that leads to the deepest part of consciousness. A deep ritual also leaves blank.

A knife into the soul, born to death. Compared to other orchestral impromptu musicians, such as Zhu Wenbo's delicate and elegant, or Li Zenghui's dark and crazy atmosphere, Prince Heng's performance, and this album, there is a kind of bamboo forest sword.

PERSHAGEN was founded in 2015 in the northern Swedish port city of Pitea. The band includes guitarist Jimmie Nilsson, bassist Andreas Sahlin, drummer Johan Kalla and keyboardist Theo Stocks. The name of the band PERSHAGEN is actually a place name in the suburbs of Stockholm, Sweden. The band recorded the first DEMO, so it got its name.

In the three years, PERSHAGEN has its own place in the post-rock field of Sweden and even Europe with their post-rock style with a strong psychedelic color. PERSHAGEN's music is very dynamic, like running water, and this fluidity is like a cinematic imagery atmosphere. In the psychedelic world woven by PERSHAGEN, the combination of jazz elements and post-rocking music always gives a feeling of coldness and softness, and a sense of dreamy virtuality, creating a picture of life in northern Sweden, natural, lyrical and quiet.

This rambunctious Sunday night, Live Beijing Music and Temple Bar will host Bangalore award winning bassist, film composer and electronic artist Sandeep Madhavan aka The Burning Deck.

With influences that span everything from 70s prog-rock and jazz fusion to the Bristol sound of the 90s, while assimilating elements of hip hop, dubstep and drum n bass, he creates a sound is always going to be out-of-the-box. He has collaborated with a whole host of Indian and international artists like Jeet Thayil (Still Dirty), Matteo Fraboni, DJ Grissino, Kuru Circus and Orchestra, and produced for international artists like Heems (Das Racist/Swet Shop Boys) and homegrown heroes like Smokey the Ghost and Ragged Skull.

The Burning Deck will join one of Beijing’s most mischievous, earth-shaking, righteous, and spiritually deviant acts - DFA1989 - the infamous doom drone collective, ‘with a constantly shifting line up of musicians with a diverse repertoire of instruments and talents’, who concoct doomy noise symphonies of the highest order. Dank ass, epic audio-sensory dreamscapes that manage to entice and engulf the senses while remaining freakishly fun particularly for those who enjoy staring into the abyss. They somehow always find a melodic arc that gives the looping drones and immersing layers and the devastating atmosphere an surprising emotional heft. These hooded mystics are indeed onto something.

Opening for the evening will be Bye Bye Fish, the avant-garde folk project formed by the leading duo behind the beloved punk outfit SUBS. Named after one of acclaimed British sci-fi author Douglas Adam’s finest lines of literature (you know it) and always shrouded in masks, they make their return after of years in hibernation, looking to bewitch audiences with their hypnotic, enchanting, and sometimes malevolence songs that feel like they’ve emerged from a dark fairy tale - or better yet, deep space where their souls will burn for eternity.

Shining Soundscape and Live Beijing Music join forces for an immersive, musically stimulating and visually enticing evening of audio-visual improvisation/feedback that find three artists working with visuals to varying degrees.

For tonight, he’ll be joined by local jazz guitarist Zhang Ding as well as artist, illustrator, designer, and experimental musician Nan Guazi whose work has made one of her generation's more recognizable artists. With a more freely flow avenue between the music and the visuals, we will also be encouraging the audience to become involved, taking turns illustrating and creating based on their reactions to the music. Joining The Burning Deck will be two locally based artists - thruoutin and gogoj, whose intricate productions and forays into experimental music and sound design has made their live shows a unique experience each and every time. Shengjie aka gogoj is an experimental musician and visual artist from Beijing. Her musical performances can be quite varied and seems to change for each show - ranging from her playing cello to playing electronic music with her own visuals accompanying it. Though her visuals are static and unchanging, her music will be in constant flux - and the two will converge this evening. The American born electronic producer and multi-instrumentalist, thruoutin, whose work revolves around the combination of different genres with a focus on organic and digital sounds, sometimes with his Mengqi-enhanced pipa, tape manipulation, and field recordings - he'll be joined by fellow Shining Soundcaper Dann Gaymer.

The Burning Deck is the moniker of award winning bassist, film composer and electronic artist Sandeep Madhavan. With influences that span everything from 70s prog-rock and jazz fusion to the Bristol sound of the 90s, while assimilating elements of hip hop, dubstep and drum n bass, the sound is always going to be out-of-the-box. Sandeep’s film scores include Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (2015), Sann Pachatthar (2016) and Running Shaadi (2017). He is based in Mumbai where he composes primarily for film and advertising.

American born electronic producer and multi-instrumentalist, thruoutin, has been based in China since 2009. His work varies from project to project, but often revolves around the combining of different genres with a focus on organic and digital sounds. He has extensively toured through North America and Asia; releasing music on several labels along the way. Most Recently he has put out work with Beijing labels RAN Music and Jingweir as well as performing on Boiler Room China and playing at festivals such as Wetware and Jiangbei.

苏楠笔名南瓜子，艺术家，插画师，设计师，实验音乐人等多重身份。毕业于四川美术学院。艺术作品极具标志性有很高的辨识度，是中国80后最具代表性的女插画师之一。

五岁开始绘画，十三岁绘画之路上获得殊荣，在插画行业从业已达十五年之久。插图作品色彩鲜明风格独特极富个人色彩，在观念表达上崇尚自然能量，作品里透露出对于宇宙世界自然生命的敬畏与热爱。

Nan Guazi is the pen name of Su Nan, an artist, illustrator, designer, and experimental musician who takes on multiple identities. A graduate from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, her work is iconic and highly recognized both inside China and internationally. She is recognized as one of the most popular female illustrators born in the 1980s in China.

One of China’s best jazz vocalists, Jess has spent 20 years gracing stages, festivals and music venues all over China with her amazing voice. She moves between her jazz quartet, her singer-songwriter project and her electronic band, “Chinatown.” A resident jazz artist for Beijing’s acclaimed East Shore Jazz Club for 4 years, she has also shared the stage with highly popular vocalist Gong Lin Na, sung for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, performed at an event for Quincy Jones and has appeared for the highly popular Midi Music Festival shows all over China.? Jess is highly sought out for VIP events for Mercedes Benz, Audi, BMW, Volvo, Hermes, Ferrari, Tiffany’s, Bazaar Magazine and many more high-end brands. She is currently a resident jazz artist at Beijing’s prestigious Chao Livingroom.

If you haven’t seen her you will have definitely?heard?her singing on your radio, television and cinema screen.
