Japanese saxophonist Naruyoshi Kikuchi and singer, composer and pianist Tomomi Oda are Flowers and Water. The pair have both played in several ensembles, working on soundtracks (Kikuchi on Cowboy Bebop and Gundam) as well as creating independent works.

SID (シド) was founded in 2003 by vocalist Mao (ex-Shula) and bassist Aki (ex-Ram Rem). They were joined by two support members, guitarist Shinji (ex-Uranus) and drummer Yuuya (ex-Shula). The four of them released the band's first demo CD, Yoshigai Manabu 17-sai (Mushoku) (吉開学 17歳 (無職)), on mini-disc that August and soon after, they signed on with Danger Crue Records.

There's no clear-cut path to obtaining a career in the music industry, especially in today's record business climate. But if you do truly belong, you'll find a way to make it work. 26-year-old Christian Berishaj is a living example of that.

Better known as JMSN, the singer/songwriter/producer has been making music professionally since he was 17. Initially signing to Atlantic Records under the stage name Snowhite as part of the lukewarm rock band Love Arcade, Berishaj then took on the moniker Christian TV to signify his new label stint with Universal Motown. After heeding less than impressive results (and another major label exit), Berishaj finally cut through the industry nonsense and emerged with a new name and a refined musical style (which he’s coined as “Hippie R&B”) in his album Priscilla.

Anyone who’s anyone in Beijing knows the name and voice of Jess Meider. One of China’s best jazz vocalists, Jess has spent 20 years gracing stages, festivals and music venues all over China with her amazing voice. She moves between her jazz quartet, her singer-songwriter project and her electronic band, “Chinatown.” A resident jazz artist for Beijing’s acclaimed East Shore Jazz Club for 4 years, she has also shared the stage with highly popular vocalist Gong Lin Na, sung for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, performed at an event for Quincy Jones and has appeared for the highly popular Midi Music Festival shows all over China.? Jess is highly sought out for VIP events for Mercedes Benz, Audi, BMW, Volvo, Hermes, Ferrari, Tiffany’s, Bazaar Magazine and many more high-end brands. She is currently a resident jazz artist at Beijing’s prestigious Chao Livingroom.

If you haven’t seen her you will have definitely?heard?her singing on your radio, television and cinema screen. A songwriting graduate of the world famous Berklee College of Music, her jazz quartet and her original music were featured in the 2010 Andy Lao hysterical remake of “What Women Want.” Her vocal and writing talents have also appeared nationwide in China for commercials for GM, Audi, Samsung and many other high-end brands. Her voice has also been featured singing on the final climatic scene of Cui Jian’s 2014 movie release, “Blue Sky Bones”.

Swamp Pussy was a band formed from the dead carcass of a cat and united in their obsession with marshy landscapes and Irish cross dressers.

Hailing from England and Australia the Swamp Pussy threesome play dirty noise rock with punk and jazz elements. Swamp Pussy have created a sound big enough to trigger Earthquakes in old Beijing. Come and see them live before they rupture the Hutong sewers and send a swampy tsunami across the planet drowning every post-rock band in its wake.

SASO:

SASO is a singer and a songwriter from Uganda. His powerful vocals and expressive-baritone breaks through various genres of music and can be heard through the work he has shared on Sound Cloud.

Saso’s writing can be characterized as expressive, breathtaking and captivating. He has written music about love, heartache, loneliness, happiness and pain.
