Sofar Sounds is a global, grassroots network of artists, hosts, and guests, all with the goal of helping to bring the magic back to live music. Zi Yue (子曰乐队) or Yaoshi Ziyue (爻釋・子曰) are a Chinese rock band formed in Beijing in 1994. The name "Zi Yue" literally means "Confucius Says...," but the band has occasionally also used the English name You.Me.It. They’ve been rock pioneers since critics hailed their first album in 1997 as a refresh for the Chinese rock scene. See them at Tango 3F on March 2nd.

Come Time travel with us back to the golden age !

China’s premier gypsy jazz ensemble, The Hot Club of Beijing was founded in Beijing, China on January 23rd 2010. This date not only marks the beginning of the band’s formation, but also marks the 100th birthday of gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt who is credited as being the creator of gypsy jazz as well as founder of the legendary band, The Hot Club of France, with violinist Stephan Grappelli in Paris, France in the 1930s. On this date in 2010 guitarist Vince Vahram (France) met clarinetist Toni Moretso (France) and guitarist Li Zhengkai (China) at a local jam session celebrating Django Reinhardt’s centennial. It was here that the three decided to start their own ensemble in tribute to the musical legacy started by Reinhardt and Grappelli, thus The Hot Club of Beijing was born. Lines:

Named after the main character in a Lu Xun novel, the Ah-Q Jazz Arkestra has stubbornly found its own niche in the Beijing jazz scene for more than a decade, bringing together an eclectic mix of musicians, styles, and original jazz compositions. Playful, creative, adventurous, the Ah-Q Jazz Arkestra uses the rich language of jazz to explore the rhythms, melodies, harmonies and emotions of our world.

Born in 1982 Ivan Dorzhiev graduated from The Rimsky-Korsakov Saint-Petersburg State Conservatory.

Ivan Dorzhiev is a top prize winner of some other renowned international guitar competitions such as the “Virtuosos of guitar” International Guitar Competition in St. Petersburg (2010) and the “¡Viva España!” twice – in 2014 and 2015.

In Spain, he was studying flamenco during 2012 and 2013 in Seville, Granada from Pedro Viscomi, Michele Laccarino.

Nowadays Ivan Dorzhiev leads an extensive concert work all around concert halls of Russia (Saint-Petersburg, Moscow and others) and abroad. His performances are recognized by international audiences and critics alike. Ivan Dorzhiev is a top flamenco guitarist and exceptional musician who is redefining what is possible on and for his instrument.
