Celebrate Lantern Festival at the NCPA with music by the China National Traditional Orchestra. Dedicated to performing Chinese traditional folk music at the highest level since 1960, the orchestra has toured around the world and collaborated with famous talents like Christoph Eschenbach, Jean Michel Jarre, Yo-Yo Ma and Minoru Miki. They dabble in contemporary Chinese music, Western classical music and other genres.

Ruben Gazarian appears to conduct the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn with cellist Gabriel Faur. The Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn is one of the world’s most sought-after chamber orchestras. They regularly tour Germany and abroad. Highlights have included the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, Vienna’s Musikverein, Berlin’s Philharmonie, Hamburg’s Laeiszhalle and Cologne’s Philharmonie.

Il Barbiere di Siviglia is an opera buffa in two acts by Gioachino Rossini with a libretto by Cesare Sterbini. The libretto was based on Pierre Beaumarchais's comedy Le Barbier de Séville (1775). It is said that Rossini wrote the opera in only two weeks.

Since its premiere at the Teatro Argentina, Rome, in 1816, Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia has proven to be one of the greatest masterpieces, and still holds the spotlight across major opera houses worldwide. Ludwig van Beethoven once noted that it would be played as long as Italian opera existed, and Giuseppe Verdi in 1898 remarked Rossini's accomplishment in a letter, "For abundance of ideas, comic verve, and truth of declamation, Il Barbiere di Siviglia is the most beautiful opera buffa in existence." It has found favour with many maestros, such as Luciano Pavarotti and Leo Nucci, just to name a few.

Marin Alsop, the first woman to be awarded the Koussevitzky Conducting Prize, appears to conduct the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra and violinist Ning Feng. Ning has developed an enormous reputation at home in his native China, and abroad, as an artist of great lyricism and emotional transparency, displaying tremendous bravura and awe-inspiring technical accomplishment.

Valentina Lisitsa is not only the first "YouTube star" of classical music; more importantly, she is the first classical artist to have converted her internet success into a global concert career in the principal venues of Europe, the USA, South America and Asia.

In 2018/2019, Valentina will play concerts with orchestras in the USA, Finland, South Korea, Italy and Scotland. Moreover, recitals will bring her to South America (Bogota, Colombia and Joinville, Brazil), Portugal (Sintra and Porto), Italy (Messina and Catania), Istanbul, Prague, Paris, Barcelona and Beijing (NCPA). Furthermore, she will be artist in residence at the Internationale Musikfestspiele Saar and the Palermo Classica Festival.

Vladimir Jurowski conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the National Centre for Performing Arts on Thursday, March 14th. Julia Fischer, one of the world’s leading violinists, performs as the soloist. They will perform a program of Strauss, Mendelssohn and Brahms.
