Hegjiltu, Hangai co-founder and band leader of Ajinai

Hailing from Inner Mongolia's ZaLute prairie, Hugejiletu is one of China's most well-known representatives of Mongolian music traditions. Deeply influenced by his father, a highly-respected musician, he initially learned a traditional storytelling form of playing music, before picking up the horse-head fiddle and started learning throat singing. In 2005, Hugejiletu co-founded the influential Mongolian-folk-rock band Hanggai, performing and composing with the group until 2009 where he started his own project Ajinai. Apart from being a part of Ajinai, Hugejiletu also performs and tours with avant-folk group Dawanggang, whilst also garnering an impressive reputation as a solo artist.

Join us for Volume 5 of School Bar's "Psycho" series this evening.

Set to play are folky indie rockers Mind Your Head, The Superhero Died in Vain, and YueHai GeQian.

Join us tonight for the 2018 School Bar awards!

This evening we continue the tradition of celebrating the bands, labels, shows, people, etc. that stood out amongst the rest during the concluding year, as well as some other fun awards! Expect good times, laughter, and an irresponsible amount of alcohol.

Of course, what would the evening be without music! One of the bands that left the biggest impression on School Bar last year are Tomorrow Wanted from Chengdu. With a bluesy funk type of vibe with a Red Hot Chilli Peppers result, we had to invite them back to School Bar on this big night.
Also set to play are a handful of bands that win awards throughout the evening.

Join metal/hardcore outfit The Tek as they release their debut EP tonight at School Bar! With their passion and inspiration stemming from the progressive deathcore genre, no messing around as The Tek will tear the house down on their big night!

Joining them and opening the show are friends in the post-hardcore electronic-core group Goodbye Sunset, as well as metal band Bastion!

Swing by School Bar for this midweek romp of huge potential mixed with the young blood of some new players on the scene.

Formed in the winter of 2017 in Baoding, shoegaze noise-pop outfit The Playcat feature a hypnotic mix of psychedelic indie rock and shoegaze swag. Featuring an original member of Birdstriking and holed up in legendary producer Yang Fan's (Hang on the Box, Ourself Beside Me, Tow, etc.) garage rehearsing and preparing new tunes, expect big things from The Playcat on the horizon.
Also on the bill are newcomers with a punk/hip-hop mix of tunes Cypher T, classic metal outfit Electric Sewage, and young rockers set to make their School debut, ZhongYang GongYuan!
