Colleen is a versatile singer, with a powerful voice. who is now in China offering the best of her talent to liven up our nights. she was singing in her country with one of the most renowned groups of native music of her city, where she enveloped people among the rhythms of Bullerengue, cumbia, currulao and many more, typical of the folk music of her land. This small woman (only of stature), has always known that music is her life, so she put aside her career as a nurse to dedicate herself exclusively to music.

Her passion is all the music related to jazz, blues, soul, she is a woman full of energy, and good vibes. a smile for everyone and a curly hair that surely you will like! Her voice has allowed her to travel around the world interpreting any musical genre in different language.

In 2013 she made her first trip from Colombia to Dubai, where she was until 2015, then she moved to Oman where she stayed for one year, in 2016 she continued another 5 months in Abu Dhabi to then take her music to Bangladesh where she spent 17 months.

Finally 5 months ago she moved to china, and although many in here have known her as a singer of Latin rhythms, pop, dance or modern music. This time it is the turn for something special: a mixture between the Jazz and the folkloric of their land, an interesting concept that we hope will conquer many spectators.

Paulette McWilliams is best known for her deep, sultry, and velvety tones, as well as her wide vocal range. She has a range that Luther totally utilized from singing with the males on the bottom to singing with sopranos on top!

Hers is one of the iconic voices behind Michael Jackson on “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” — Michael’s biggest hit; Aretha Franklin’s No.1 hit “Jump To It,” Billy Idol’s No. 1 hit “Mony Mony,” Luther Vandross’s “Stop To Love,” “Wait For Love,” and “Bad Boy/Having A Party,” among many others. She has a beautifully long and extensive music history.

Paulette became the lead singer with Ask Rufus and was solely responsible for introducing the group to a friend of hers, Chaka Khan. For a period of time, Paulette and Chaka shared the lead in Ask Rufus and when Paulette left, Chaka began.

Moving from gig to gig, Paulette worked feverishly and then, thanks to a recording produced by Donny Hathaway and Phil Upchurch, she was “introduced” to Quincy Jones. Upchurch, the world-famous jazz guitarist, sent a studio recording to Quincy. Shortly thereafter, Paulette became solo/lead singer with Quincy during his “Body Heat” tour and he featured her on his Mellow Madness album – the title song co-written by Paulette. Next, they toured Japan where one of Paulette’s dreams came true: singing a duet live with the legendary Sarah Vaughan while Quincy conducted the orchestra.

See her at Blue Note on December 29th and 30th. For more information or for tickets, visit: https://www.showstart.com/event/72804

We invite you to join us as we send off 2018 with a bang and welcome 2019 with the uplifting sounds of jazz.

Hailed by MacArthur fellow Jason Moran as “a freethinking, gifted pianist on the scene who lives in each note that she plays,” Pianist-composer Kris Davis was named 2018 Rising Star Artist/2017 Rising Star Pianist in Downbeat Magazine and dubbed one of the music’s top up-and-comers in a 2012 New York Times article titled “New Pilots at the Keyboard.” To date, Davis has released eleven recordings as a leader.
