Guitarist and film composer Akira Yamaoka is best known for his masterful work on Silent Hill. His style wanders from baroque rock to traditional heavy metal to industrial noise, bringing gothic styles like baroque piano, gloomy repetitions and sudden mutations, like if Poe and Po Songling had afternoon tea.

This July, the National Youth Orchestra of China (NYO-China) presents a concert series dedicated to the art of chamber performance which features twenty of China’s finest young musicians. What unique qualities will these student artists bring to their performances? What challenges will they face in preparing advanced works? How might chamber performance foster connection across divides of age, geography, and nationality?

Robert Blocker, the Henry and Lucy Moses Dean of Music at Yale University and Senior Advisor for Global Artistic Affairs to the National Youth Orchestra of China (NYO-China), hosts a discussion of chamber music education and outreach within China. Da Hottest Talent Show started in 2017 summer at Hot Cat Club, with a few good friends try to make sth fun and different from all those big ass TV Talent shows. A uygur from Urumqi for a brighter future, a French girl working as a bartender, a Chinese guy couldn't figure out the rhythm yet have a unique voice with an awesome mindset, present it for the first time here in this video!

In the following months, we captured roughly 30 talents, mostly musicians, bands and regular people in bar, having short videos of live music and interviews. Jukka Ahonen 有丰富的演奏朋克，progressive, kraut, space, 民谣，爵士，蓝调等音乐的经验。作为作曲家，除了为乐队写作外，还有兴趣对结构（aleatory）和复杂的节奏（polyrhytms，polymeters 和 odd

Jukka Ahonen plays guitar, bass, keyboards some flutes and composes music. He has a history of playing musics like punk, progressive rock, krautrock, spacerock, post-rock, folk, jazz, blues.

As a composer, besides writing for bands, he is interested about experimenting with structure (aleatory) and unusual rhythmic textures (polyrhytms, polymeters, and odd time) as well as different intonations (just intonation and overtones) and improvisation.

Jukka majored in Music Anthropology but studied playing instruments by himself. He has been playing guitar since the mid 90’s and teaching guitar since 2012.

Bio: Born of a hellhound and the Bull of Heaven, Chris—named after the sound made by the tab being pulled from a soda can—is a real artist, not a phony. He draws his inspiration from nature, and his work is noted for its realistic depictions of both man and beast. Some have criticized his work for lacking diversity, citing the paucity of the female form in his oeuvre. However, he has answered that criticism by pointing out his inability to draw breasts, and he insists that it is not due to latent homersexuality, as many critics have speculated.

Film photographer, based in Beijing

Her personal photographic work contains a large number of film works, focusing on shooting portrait, good at using lens language to describe the characters’ emotions. She has her own understanding of love and life, which makes her work have a unique texture, always able to settle a quiet and powerful moment. In her photos, you can see the emotions that are ordinary and precious, beautiful and lost, broken and bright, just like the taste of our life.

Christophe is a French born and educated photographer who studied fine art painting and related beaux arts in Paris in the mid-1980s. Initially a fine art painter with a large body of work in oil painting, inks and lead drawings.

From January 2016 onward he devoted two years of solid daily work to the mastery of the camera, the lens, negatives and associated editing softwares while working on a wide variety of portfolios to create his own unique style.

Having chosen black & white photography as his main tool for artistic expression and almost invariably concentrating on the quality of the light to make his contrasts compelling, we can recognise some of the techniques and feelings created under an ink brush or a graphite pencil or even an oily texture as the subject may be.

In December 2017 Christophe received two awards from Beijing, one for Excellence in work being presented and another one as second prize in a competition. In 2016 Christophe did receive an Honour award from VSCO Select for curated work showing exceptional content from around the world.

Chandoso draws upon influences from life spent in the streets of Bogotá, Madrid and Beijing. Chandoso’s work occasionally capitalizes on exploring spontaneity -while other work focuses on conveting a deeper rhetoric. Just as punk music is all at once chaotic and clear, Chandoso is a departure from the traditional rules of art.

3C ENSEMBLE是从3C (Creative Composers Collective)孵化出来的一个不定期演出的创意爵士组合。

Creative Composers Collective (3C) was founded by Italian Jazz Guitarist Simone Schirru with the idea of creating a synergy between some of the best jazz composers in Beijing. Beginning in March 3C will be presenting a series of concerts at DDC, with each concert featuring a different composer and their original project.

高太行于2006年获得美国北艾奥瓦大学音乐表演学士学位，于2011年获得纽约城市学院爵士演奏硕士学位。2006年以来活跃在北京爵士音乐界的的萨克斯演奏家和作曲家。作为“红手”五重奏乐队的成员之一和他自己的四重奏和三重奏乐队的主导者，他为北京爵士音乐做出了重要贡献。此外，他还积极参与了其他风格和流派的音乐活动，包括“Three Sergeants Syndrome”，“北京城市大乐队”，Afrokoko Roots 和 “不一定” 等音乐团体。他参 与了“九门音乐节”、“迷笛爵士节”、“地坛音乐节”、"重庆爵士节"、"海龟岛国际音乐节"等重要演出。

刘晓光 (CN)

Saxophonist LiuXiaoguang, also known as Kenny, is one of the hottest players on the China jazzscene. Born in Inner Mongolia in 1979, Xiaoguang started playing classicalguitar as a child, later switching to saxophone at the age of 15 when admittedto the Inner Mongolia School of the Arts. He started learning jazz a few yearslater, moving to Beijing in 1999. He joined the Canglang band led by Mongoliansinger Teng Ge Er (playing keyboard) in 2001, then in 2002 joined the BeijingCity Big Band, led by jazz pianist Xia Jia.

Xiaoguang has played with a number of leading musical ensembles,including the Red Groove Funk Band led by guitarist Lawrence Ku, Modern Pop ledby Jia Yinan, pianist Christophe Lier’s New Glucose Octet, the Bad BoysElectronic Jazz Unit, Haya, and Chinese folk band Xiao Juan and the Residentsfrom the Valley (on flute and harmonica). Xiaoguang has also worked with anumber of musicians, including Lin Yifeng, Ye Jiaxiu, Lao Lang, Sun Meng, YuQuan, Chen Chusheng, Shang Wenjie, Jiang Jianmin and Zuoxiao Zuzhou.

Matt Roberts (US)

Trombonist Matt Roberts,who hails from the Philadelphia area, first came to China in 1987 and has beenplaying jazz in China since 1990. Inspired by life-changing performancesduring his college years with the legendary Sun Ra, Roberts has performed witha number of jazz and funk outfits in Beijing in Shanghai over the lasttwenty-some years. Roberts is one of the founding members of the Ah-Q JazzArkestra.

Simone Schirru (IT)

Since then He played with "Guitto Gargle", "Cuenta Contemporanea", the solo project "Improsa Tongue", "Ajo-jo mandi & the Youngers", Progetto Nudo, Pixeldrama, in many festivals and prestigious places around the world crossing Italy, Belgium, United States and India.

裴世珍是钢琴家，作曲家以及编曲家，并在韩国很著名的同德女子大学获得爵士表演学士学位。2010年，她搬到纽约市并在皇后大学上研究生。在皇后大学她师从 David Berkman, Jeb Patton, Michael Mossman, Antonio Hart 及 Johannes Weidenmuller. 在纽约的时候，她经常参加各种演出，音乐会以及大师班。 获得了爵士表演的硕士学位，裴世珍搬回韩国并在首尔和大邱里的几所大学开始授课。与此同时，她经常在韩国各地最著名的音乐俱乐部和音乐厅演出，另外还参加广播电台、音乐节以及参与很多录音棚的录音工作。

爵士贝斯手。曾就读于北京现代音乐学院、荷兰格罗宁根州的克劳斯王子音乐学院并于美国纽约皇后学院获得演奏专业硕士学位。曾师从 Antonio Hart, Ralph Peterson, Michael Moore, David Berkman, Paul Benner, Joe Martin, Dennis Mackrel, Michael Mossman, Joris Teepe, ChristopheLier, 也曾于 Erik Truffaz, Don Braden, Matthew Shipp, TedNash, Chris Washburne, Theo Croker 合作演出。

Victor Bastidas (CO)

Victor Bastidas received a Bachelor in Music from Florida International University with a full scholarship from the music department, and performed with artists such as among many. He also graduated with honors from the Master of Music Programat the University, with a full scholarship from the music department as well asa University Fellowship, and was part of the scholars group at NIU. Victor Has played as a sideman with jazz artist such as Steve Cardenas, Vincent Gardner, Sherman Irby, Adam Larson, Samuel Torres, Reggie Thomas, Roy Assaf among many.

As the director composer and drummer of the Project Collective, he has recorded two albums in New York City, Guayal and and Canto Choco, and the latest record Tales of a Latin American Traveler recorded in Chicago, and has performed at many festivals and live venues in US also South America with De paises Project. Victor also wrote music for "Coda for Freddie Blue" of Broadway play in NY, and the Film Vanity in Miami.

Diamond Lil

Diamond Lil is an electronic music producer and DJ based in Shanghai. Behind the decks, she moves rooms with tight blends of disco- and Chicago-influenced house, combining deep melodies with a real sense of swing. As a producer she writes music ranging from downtempo and melodic ambient to more groove-based dancefloor material.Signed to Beijing's Ran Groove label(alongside acts like h_w_a, Knopha). Diamond is also a new resident of club Elevator with the Co: Motion crew in Shanghai.

DJ 4tael

Since 2010, DJ 4tael has been joining up with couple of music fanatics together co-founded Diggaz In Beijing City. Genre: Known for combining dance music with Pure HipHop, Funk&Soul etc. Mixes being released regularly on Noisey(Vice) and Underground Radio. MC JIN China Tour Exclusive DJ.

Fishdoll

FishDoll is a New York-Beijing based alternative electronic music producer and singer. Deeply influenced by Jazz and other indie music, FishDoll's unique sound textures move fluidly between and amongst music styles, breaking the rules of genre and frames. While in New York she was also inspired by Hip-Hop and Soul music, and began exploring how she can freely express herself through sampling. In 2014 she started releasing personal projects on Soundcloud which drew the attention of local producers due to the lush vocals. After collaborating with some rising producers such as Froyo Ma, Softglas, Madison Mcferrin and Anna Wise, Fishdoll got attention from Brooklyn record labels “Youngbloods", "Paxico records" and the Chinese electronic music label "Do hits”. In 2018, She released her debut album Noonsense through Paxico Records, very soon it got selected on the "Best Electronic New Album" of Bandcamp daily.

Macondo make some of the most interesting and exciting music coming out of Beijing today: instrumental rock with elements of math-core, infused with vibes drawn from 70s psychedelic music, adding the production and sound of today’s electronic music. Their unique music shifts from sounds that are ambient and heavy, spacious and dense to atmospheric but rhythmically driven. Bombastic drumming, layered with lush floating guitar textures and earth-shaking energetic bass attack, and otherworldly synthesiser sounds.
