Greg Lamy Quartet

Guitar, double bass, drum and saxophone might be the common instrument in jazz music, but Greg Lamy Quartet adds more charm in these instruments and they make some different music. Greg Lamy Quartet is from Grand Duchy for Luxembourg which is a small country with an area of 2,586 square kilometers that has a population of about 570 thousand. Although it is one of the smallest sovereign states in Europe, Luxembourg has seen the birth of over 500 bands and artists in the past ten years. In order to encourage people to play music and promote the music, Luxembourg sets up the Luxembourgish music export office music: LX to help more outstanding musicians to be on the international stages.
The music of Greg Lamy Quartet is not just jazz: sometimes walking around the cross of jazz and blues, sometimes playing folk ballad, sometimes you think you play a swing song to dance. The members of Greg Lamy Quartet have played together for 11 years and they have the unspoken tacit. They enjoy to play music under this tacit and to reach new heights, which creates a unique atmosphere of Greg Lamy Quartet. Each member has his own feature in playing instrument. As the front-man of the band, guitarist Greg Lamy owns a refreshing and pure sound gives birth to multiple melodical climates; double bassist Gautier Laurent has a requisite sensitivity of music, which helps him to grab the exact note he needs; Johannes Müller has an elaborate and sophisticated skill in playing saxophone and he is good at expressing emotions through his music vocabulary; Jean-Marc Robin controls a fabulous technique of playing jazz drum and he also makes the sound of Greg Lamy Quartet much more three-dimensional.
Characterized by an alchemical osmosis, the Greg Lamy Quartet is an accomplished ensemble. Their tours in Europe, USA and Brazil caused a tremendous repercussion. At the same time, the album Meeting released in 2013 received critical and public acclaim as one of the label’s best-selling albums. In 2016, the Luxembourgish music export office music: LX awarded them the Export Artist of the Year Award in the jazz category.
