Formed in the summer of 2003 by superstar French conductor François-Xavier Roth, Les Siècles comprises outstanding young players pooled from the very finest French ensembles. Roth’s founding ambition was for his orchestra to offer a new approach, not only to repertoire but also to the nature of the concert form. They appear to play a programme including Debusy, Ravel and Stravinsky.

WHAI was founded in 2012 by four Chinese ethnic artists back grounds, each playing original music with distinctly Chinese elements.

WHAI plays a mixture of Trip-Hop,Dance,Chinese folk,Psychedelic, Avantgarde,Experimental,Rock,Industrial,Techno and Noise.However,their sound cannot be boxed into one category;it flows free like the songs' subject matters which range from China to phoenixes to the meaning of life. WHAI's music is dark yet dreamy,transporting those who listen to a mysterious world where anything is possible. Like its members who do their own thing despite societal pressure,WHAI's music refuses to be shaped by rules and predetermined norms. WHAI also incorporates techno music,thanks to special guest member Mickey Zhang. Mikey Zhang is one of the most influential DJs in Asia,who's influence on the Asian,especially the Chinese electronic music scene,cannot be over stated. Those who choose to listen can fly to another world while moving to the beats.

Since the kickoff of the Dog Year Toxic Entertainment has partied like never before. From hosting Back2Basics events with international acts like D-UNITY, TRUNCATE, YAN COOK, STIV HEY and SKOBER to Residents Nights in Beijing’s leading night spots for quality dance music to collaboration with various local heroes, organizing creative workshops and co-organizing festivals – there was always a show weekend after weekend.

But, all of this wouldn’t be possible without your unconditional support and dedication and your energy is strongly connected to ours. To show our appreciation to our supporters, Toxic hosts the most anticipated daytime rave in the core of the city – May 26th Back2Basics presents: Hutongs Sessions!
Throughout the years it has become a tradition. Hutongs Sessions is a celebration of music, freedom, sun, friendship and everything in between that really matters. You are welcome to join it as it is free entry, and you should join us because this year our massive line-up has eleven DJs from China, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Portugal and Serbia ready to entertain you from 1 to 10 PM with the best summer vibe four-by-four grooves this city has to offer for a beautiful new memory together once again!
In the past, each Hutongs Sessions overwhelmed us with emotions and we can’t wait for this one as we have chosen an amazing venue – SALUD Bar – with a huge terrace and spacious indoor, in the heart of the hutongs, near Houhai lake at No.2 Fangzhuangchang Hutong in Dongcheng District. We’re back to the origins, back to basics, and on the decks will be joining us top local & foreign artists, boys & girls: SUNMENG (Be Stupid), AIDA (techNOrules), TUCOCO & SUNK (Trust), our Resident EVA XU and Aurora’s PANCAKE LEE (Trust), RHOM OMIT (Blackout), PARTYSON – a special guest from Guangzhou, WALTERLOO from Germany and our Residents VLTRA_U and NIGLS.
All fueled by MATE MATE Berlin and our friends Beer&Records from Yiwu – a winning combination to enjoy the sunset to good drinks and food surrounded with nothing but FRIENDS.
But we don’t stop there, no – from 10 PM until our legs fail on us it’s after party time at AURORA Club in Sanlitun Tongli Building, and Toxic is giving away 20 tickets during the daytime rave because – we love you!

Matthew Parker picked up his uncle's old trumpet and have never put it down since. Then he moved to Sydney to study baroque and classical trumpet with Mr. John Foster, of Australian Baroque Brass acclaim. Following a course of self-study, he became the student of Mr. Warwick Alder, Sydney Conservatory's trumpet teacher. This relationship lasted 3 years, learning jazz while playing at jazz bars all around Australia. Matthew soon started to play with many musicians in Beijing and develop his skills not only on trumpet but also singing, he sings in a classic Chet Baker style.

Pierre Pradat is a French jazz piano and keyboard player, band leader, composer, sound designer, producer, teacher, and actor. He was born on December 31, 1981 in Nancy, France. Now in his early thirties, he is a highly respected musician in Beijing. His greatest influences include the music of Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Kenny Barron, Miles Davis, and Wayne Shorter, among others. His music covers a large range of styles while delivering his own brand ofcreativity and personality. Pradat’s musical education began with classicalpiano lessons at his hometown’s National Conservatory at the age of six. He began to study Jazz at the age of 13. By the time he was 18, he had already graduated from the Music Academy International, one of the most prestigious contemporary music institutes in Europe. His primary mentors included acclaimed teachers Pierre-Alain Goualch (Piano) and Jean Bisello (Funk Bass).

Philippe Mege : Teacher at Beijing Contemporary Music Academy.Performer, hard-worker with a creative mind.Very passionate about refining music as a powerful emotional language.Take teaching as a mission for the memory and respect of the human artistic experience.Played Guitar for 25 years, Electric Bass for 17 years, Double Bass for 12 years.Produce music for bands, movies, commercials.Design and built custom electronic devices for stage performance.

Nico Mege is a french drummer, composer, sound designer and music producer. Since his arrival in Beijing in 2009, he has become one of the most demanded drummers in China, and has shown his rare musical taste and versatility in all kinds of projects, from Beijing jazz, folk, rock and experimental scene to China's most popular entertainment. He has performed at the Shanghai World Expo, MIDI music festival, Strawberry festival, Shanghai Folk Festival, Ditan music festival, and many major venues in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. During his rich musical education, he had the privilege to learn from acclaimed drummers Ari Hoenig (US), Etienne Tanguidé (FR), Rudy Piccinelli (FR) and completed his studies at the National Conservatory of Provence with french jazz masters Nicolas Folmer and Stéphane Guillaume.

Alessio Menconi is an italian guitarist born in Genoa. He approached guitar when he was 10 as selftaught.Cosidered a prodigy, he start in 1986 is professional career with best italian musicians. In 1992 he won the award as "Best Soloist" in Gran Prix du Jazz". In 1993 he participated in "Eddie Lang festival"contest (the most important competitions for guitarists in Italy), winning the first prize as best italian jazz guitarist. He play in tour in Europe, Asia, Africa, north, center and south America and recorded in over 40 cds with several musicians. In 1995 Paolo Conte call him for play in several world tour until 2004 and he recorded four cds. In the same period Billy Cobham wanted him since to play with

him in several concerts. In the same year, he have been selected in Paris to play with "ONJ" (orchestre national du jazz) In 2003, He partecipated as only italian to the cd "Voodoo crossing-a tribute to Jimi Hendrix" with Robben Ford, Steve Lukather, Hiram Bullock ,Larry Coryell and many others. Lately is leaded of his own trio and of his solo project with whom jus made cds, and he is the jazz guitar teacher in the conservatory of music“Paganini” of Genoa. He made tours in Italian embassys in India, Zambia, South Africa,Ecuador, Brazil, Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador and others. Actually is one of much important and wanted guitar player in Italy and other countries in Europe. He takes “Jazz lighthouse” 2009 Career award. In 2011 he was included in a cd compilations of world best jazz guitarist as only italian. In the same year, “Jazz It” magazine put his record “Sketches of Miles” in the best 100 jazz records of the world.

MASSIMILIANO ROLFF is playing along with a deep knowledge of the tradition mixed with a personal taste for composition, became a landmark for many jazz lovers across Italy. In over 15 years of music career, Massimiliano Rolff toured extensively Europe and U.S. alongside with some of the world's finest jazz musicians, and released 6 albums as leader and more than 20 as sideman and co-leader. Based in Genoa, in the 'Italian Riviera', is today leading and performing his own music, with several bands across Italy and Europe.Massimiliano (born June 1973) starts playing music as self taught guitarist at the age of 12. At the age of 16 he's already performing across Italy as young bass player with different pop-rock bands. In 1999 he graduates at the Jazz Conservatory of Groningen (Holland) in Electric Bass and Music Pedagogy. After few months, thanks to a scolarship of the Dutch government he also follows a master at the Bass Collective in New York City with John Pattitucci and Lincoln Goines. In the year 2000 he settle back in the sun, in Genoa, Italy. In 2010 he took a second master degree in Jazz Music at the Conservatory "N. Paganini" in Genova (Italy).

German born WalterLoo is an Germany based DJ who started djing back in 2010. Since then he developed his passion for electronic music. His sets are mainly characterized by deep and solid sounds of Techno and Deep House, but his dedication to different styles of House music is also reflected in the influence of Garage, catchy Tech House and Minimal sounds. As a local hero, he played in various underground venues around Düsseldorf, Krefeld and Aachen in Germany as well as Maastricht, Netherlands. Now he made his way around the globe and moved to China to spin the jog wheels for Beijing’s electronic subculture. Music: Deep House, Tech House, Garage
