The Mongolian band Marmot is heavily influenced not only by traditional Mongolian folk, but also by their traditional way of life. Using instruments like the tuva and the mataoqin (horse-headed fiddle), they create ‘ecological’ music. See them live at 69 Cafe this Wednesday.

The one-man orchestra Djang San comes to the stage of Jianghu, followed by a solo guitar performance by Jukka. The Djang San “One Man Live Orchestra” is an extraordinary project where Djang San, alone on stage, plays several instruments and devices as a one man band. The project has already toured South Korea three times, Japan and China. The Music is based on loop stations and Chinese instruments Zhongruan and Pipa but Djang San sometimes also uses other devices such as keyboards or mini keyboards and guitars.

Jukka Ahonen plays guitar, bass, keyboards some flutes and composes music. He has a history of playing musics like punk, progressive rock, krautrock, spacerock, post-rock, folk, jazz, blues.

Jalapeño Poppers: Sid & Reese - a sweet duo of two everyman types who just wanna sing about the normal stuff, like the world’s prettiest pony and Reese’s really nice dad. The genre can also be defined as comedy, punk, folk. The duo got together in Temple bar's 'Rock against Jams' and have been writing originals since. The unique blend of the ukulele, guitar, harmonica and the combined singing are the recipe for the Jalapeño Poppers sound.

Once and For All establishes their DJent and ambient sound amidst heavy beats. The song is built on the basis of the groove, focusing on the creation of the atmosphere and the venting of emotions. Catch the ambient artists at Yue Space as part of the Illusory China tour on April 1st.

Christopher Chaplin creates idiosyncratic and highly detailed music, a soundtrack of winding paths through the un/conscious. He combines experimental electronic with chamber and contemporary music approaches. The sound is rakish echoed by the projections of Visual Artist Luma Launisch assembled and processed in real time. Alpine Decline is a guitar+drums duo that relocated from Los Angeles to Beijing in 2010, attracted by the city’s brimming underground music scene. The band’s sound touches the nostalgic sweet spot for fans of psych, shoegaze, noise rock and ‘90s indie, without sounding too much like any of those. See them at Yue Space on April 13th.

OVUM are a four-piece instrumental rock band originating from Tokyo, Japan. New inspiration gained during their 2014 European tour spurred OVUM to radically change their musical direction. This development saw the band take on a more expressive style of playing defined by the members as "metal-oriented instrumental rock," with a heavier and more aggressive approach built onto their core sound. Catch them at Yue Space on April 17th.

The tour is based on Su’s personal project and world music project. Su’s personal projects live performances include impromptu components and are highly infectious. The world music project is an emerging project in the past two years. It takes the best of Eastern and Western musical concepts, using guitars, vocals, flute, cello accompaniment, and Indian musical instrument towers.
