An Open Rehearsal is a fascinating opportunity to watch the band Blood Feast at work, and see how a piece of music is shaped and polished by the conductor and the musicians.

What Else

Before the rehearsal begins, the lead guitar player, as a professional guitar tutor himself, will give some lectures about guitar and ukelele for people who are interested in.

The guitar player, Ottomanni, who majored in guitar playing in Finland and used lead his former band tour in different countries for the past ten years, will show you some unique opinions on the mechanism and essential technic of guitar learning.

For those who might be hesitated learning some music instruments for a while, here is your chance. No worries, come an hour earlier and it is free.

Thirty-six-year-old Los Angelino saxophonist Kamasi Washington made a name for himself by playing on Kendrick Lamar's landmark 2015 hip-hop album To Pimp a Butterfly, before releasing a sprawling, critically acclaimed triple album called The Epic that same year. The New York Times describes him as one of today's few jazz musicians to play concert halls, rather than smaller clubs, before adding that attendees at his gigs "do something that people at jazz concerts seldom do anymore: They dance."

The artist Haozi lets his desire for freedom and sensitivity coexist as he creates his folk ballads. He appears at Snail Hostel this Saturday with fellow indie artist Chen Fei, whose music brings to mind a spring rain and uplifts his audiences.

Head to 13 Club for a show for geeks, by geeks. Who said geeks can only write code? Part one brings a Hong Kong visual programming VJ and a street-culture obsessed guitarist to the stage for a mix of electronic and pop-punk music, while part two brings VJs Scarlet and AJ to the stage for an audiovisual feast. The show also features signature cocktails made by an AI.

Cutting edge indie artist Yue Lin (Jia Ni) appears for the first time at Mogu Space this Saturday. The artist counts Tori Amos and Joan Baez among her influences and incorporates bossa nova, jazz and baroque to create her own unique musical style.

Liu Wenxiang is a professional guitarist and composer who currently works with The Scene and Slow Stone Trio. He appears with Eric Chong, who was born in Hong Kong and studied pipa before taking up guitar. They’ll play electric jazz at Jianghu this Saturday.

Indie rockers Backspace appear at Rockland, Beijing’s most intimate music venue, on Saturday.
