DJ Ozone (San Francisco) plays all original, vinyl records, from the 1980s. It's fun, silly, carefree party music -- 80s synth-pop, Italo disco, boogie funk, post-punk, old school hip-hop and electro, funk and soul, and lots of cheese cheese cheese. Ozone’s approach is to let the songs play -- not making elaborate mixes or using too many effects. In a time of trendy computer DJs with automatic edits and beat-matching software, it's refreshing to hear a human touch -- just great songs, nothing serious, played raw and fresh as ever.

Starting as a radio DJ in California, Ozone has been involved with the China music scene since 2003, co-founding The Antidote nights in Shanghai, then touring around China and Asia with hundreds of DJs, bands, and recording artists from China and from around the world. He managed the bookings at Shanghai's legendary Tang Hui and 4-Live clubs (2005-2007) before opening clubs Dada Shanghai in 2009 and Dada Beijing in 2012 -- both have been awarded "best club"  in their cities many times -- and Dada Kunming in 2020. In 2019, DJ Ozone did a tour playing 20 cities around China, plus Mongolia and Kazakhstan.

DJ Ozone's proudest moment so far, was winning a paper airplane contest in the 5th grade, elementary school. His well-crafted paper airplane flew farther than even the 6th grades planes.

In conjunction with New Star in-Motion, we present our old friend GUAN. He will appear as a solo artist on his upcoming album. This time he will bring a fresh feeling to everyone, showing his diverse creative ability. This time we will invite him to Dada Beijing to give you a lively performance, please look forward to it!

Anni Wang, a captivating singer with soulful and passionate vocal performance. Under the guidance of world-class jazz vocalist Ines Trickovic, Anni kept bringing her unique interpretation of jazz onto different stages. In the past years, she has been performing jazz music in major cities such as Macau, Guangzhou, Lisbon, Boston, Bangkok, Beijing among others. In 2015, she held a special concert "Doppelgänger" in Chongqing, featuring two sides of her music personalities - the quiet and powerful, the wild and humorous. She has obtained a research master's degree in Linguistics and she has been fond of bringing her understanding of meaning-making and multi-culture into her jazz vocal performance. Working diligently on her vocal techniques and expressions, she has become uniquely herself and found her true voice, with the soul, rhythm and heartbeat of a true jazz singer.

Expect lots of beautifully crafted effects as Satellite Trio visits Modernista this Thursday for another experimental jazz night. They have a big following, so make sure to make a reservation if you want to listen to guitar player Satoshi Kataoka’s creative tunes. With old timer Xiao Dou joining on drums and Nathaniel Gao on sax, is guaranteed to be a night to remember!
