Ryuichi Sakamoto is affectionately called "Professor" by fans because of his knowledgeable and personable demeanor. He is one of the most popular and well-known composers of our time:
Faye Wong wrote him in a song, Dongye Zhuwuhui described him in a book, Michael Jackson once sang his songs, European churches used his music as bells, and young people around the world wore cultural shirts with his face on them.
In China, he is best known as the soundtrack to the movie "The Undying Emperor". At the same time, his most classic track "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrencex" was widely circulated, and its influence even surpassed Nagisa Oshima's movie "Merry Christmas on the Battlefield" itself. Billboard Magazine once commented: "Half of his compositions are soundtracks, but they are so powerful in their own right that they can be enjoyed alone as pure music.
