Rena Lei is a senior singer active in Beijing Jazz stage and a member of Jazz Association of China Music Association.


She grew up in a musical family when she was young. She showed her strong memory and imitation ability of music melody, and began to learn singing skills with vocal music teachers. The University studied in the TV Department of Communication University of China, majoring in radio and television editing and directing. She signed a contract with Beijing Star disc Culture Development Co., Ltd. to become its own artist. She released individual singles and participated in commercial performances. During this period, she first came into contact with jazz music in Beijing CD jazz bar, so she was deeply fascinated. Since then, she began to learn jazz songs and embarked on the road of becoming a jazz singer. She has performed in Aria bar of China Hotel, Park Hyatt Hotel, Beijing Liang bar, big easy happy station bar and other occasions. During this period, she has accumulated experience in performing jazz and a large number of jazz song library. Her singing style tends to standard jazz, including swing, bossa nova, ballad and other traditional jazz styles. She has cooperated with famous jazz musicians such as Jinfo, Xia Jia and Huang Yong. In the past few years, she has performed in hotels and bars all over the country, including curve cigar bar of Ritz Carlton Hotel in Shenzhen, Ritz Carlton Hotel in Sanya, and haiweilin bar of Lishunde hotel in Tianjin. After returning to Beijing, she began to perform in major jazz clubs in the form of individuals or bands, including “bricks, Fugue, Tango by ala house, blue note, river and lake bar”etc. her Quintet was invited to perform in Tsinghua University's free night activities. During this period, she has the honor to meet and learn from many Chinese and foreign jazz musicians. In more than ten years of professional performance activities, She has learned and improved her singing skills, maintained the delicate and unique style of voice line, explored and learned Jazz impromptu singing method, and was able to sing works with great contrast across styles.

Liu Kefu, a jazz vocalist in Beijing. He started his music education at 6, and showed a great passion for music. He directed the school choir and organized his first band in high school.


It’s in Vienna Austria that he met his tutor Leila Thigpen, who taught him jazz singing. He’s enrolled in Gustav Mahler Music Institute in 2005 at the age of 19. He was the leader of the Vienna University school choir ‘s tenor part from 2007 till 2009.


He attended Amy London’s master class at Veneto Jazz Fest in Italy in 2008 and performed at the fest.


He returned to China in 2010, and started his music career in Beijing.


Together with his band ”Kefu jazz group”, he became a regular at the local jazz scenes and jazz festivals.


He won a monthly championship in a major music competition hosted by CCTV early 2013.


As a tutor, he’s now teaching jazz singing techniques at Beijing Modern Music Institute.


In 2017, gave four special concerts with Seesaw Jazz Band for the 10th Samaa international Festival for Spiritual Music and Chanting in Cairo, Egypt.


Released a jazz single “Good bye, Love” and received positive response in 2018.


In April, 2019, gave a jazz concert for “k11 music fest” sponsored by Tencent Musicians in Guangzhou.


Sang for CMA jazz big band’s “When Folk Meets Jazz” album in May, 2019.

Liu Peiyi, jazz saxophone player and composer. "Antigua" saxophone global endorsement musician.

In 2010, he received a scholarship and was admitted to the Berkeley Conservatory of Music in the United States, under the tutelage of jazz saxophonist George Garzone, jazz educators Ed Tomassi, Hal Crook, and Dr. Shannon LeClaire. In 2013, he received a bachelor's degree in jazz saxophone performance from the institute. In 2014, he recorded and published his first jazz album "15 Years" in Boston. In 2017, he won a scholarship and was admitted to the New England Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of world-renowned jazz saxophone educator Jerry Bergonzi, Grammy Award winner Donny McCaslin, Jazz Saxophone pioneer musicians Mark Turner, Miguel Zenon, and followed Ken schaphorst and Frank Carlberg to learn jazz composition, also studied a one-year band rehearsal course in the band class of legendary jazz drummer Bob Moses, and received a master's degree in jazz performance from the institute in 2019 . In 2019, he recorded and completed his second original jazz album "Flow of Soul" in Boston. As a professional saxophone player, Liu Peiyi lives in the United States all year round, and has maintained cooperation with international musicians and has been well received. In 2019, he played with contemporary legendary jazz bass musician Dave Holland at the Brown Concert Hall in Boston. In 2013, he cooperated with Wealter Beasley's classic work "Free" by Wealter Beasley, a famous American saxophonist. Liu Peiyi held saxophone lectures and special concerts in many music colleges in China, including Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Xi'an Conservatory of Music, Xinjiang The School of Art, the Music School of Northwest University for Nationalities, and the Beijing Midi School of Music. Many of the students he has taken have successfully entered the Berkeley Conservatory of Music in the United States and the Prince Claude Conservatory of Music in the Netherlands.


This will be the second solo album "Flow Of Soul" (a conversation in the depths of the soul) recorded by the jazz saxophonist and composer Liu Peiyi in Boston in 2019. This is a record of his years of studying jazz in the United States. Personal experience, as well as the original album of jazz teaching in China and the United States in recent years, and the precipitation and thinking of cultural exchanges

A saxophone player and composer who has been active in the Beijing jazz music scene since 2006. As one of the members of the "Red" Quintet and the leader of his own quartet and trio, he has made important contributions to Beijing Jazz Music. His bands also include "Xia Jia Quartet", "Bad Monk", "Zhou Wei", "Beijing Blue Note Band", "Three Sergeants Syndrome", "Beijing City Band", "Afrokoko Roots" and "No Fixed". He participated in the "Nine Gate Jazz Music Festival", "Haishima Jazz Music Festival", "Niigata Jazz Music Festival", "Shushu Jazz Music Festival", "Midi Jazz Festival" "And "Ditan Music Festival". High-Taiwan graduated with a degree in Music Performance from the North Io School of the United States in 2006, and a master degree in Performance from the City College of New York in 2011.


 


Nathaniel Gao is a saxophonist and composer who has been based in Beijing since 2006. He has been a key contributor to the local jazz scene as both a co-leader of the quintet Red Hand as well as a leader of his own quartet and trio. Additionally, Gao has been active in an eclectic range of other musical projects including Three Sergeants Syndrome, The Beijing City Big Band, Afrokoko Roots and Bu Yiding. He has performed at the Ninegates Jazz Festival, the MIDI Jazz Festival, the Chongqing Jazz Festival, and the Ditan Park Music Festival, Jarasum International Jazz Festival and at major venues in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and Guangzhou. Gao graduated from UNI in 2006 with BA in music performance and in 2011 completed an MA in jazz performance at the City College of New York.

 Satoshi has played/recorded with some great players such as John McNeil (Horace Silver, Tom Harrell, Billy Hart, Bob Brookmeyer), Joe Martin(Chris Potter, Brad Mehldau, Fred Hersch, Maria Schneider),Jochen Rueckert(Mark Turner, Marc Copland, Pat Metheny, Sam Yahel) and Michael King (Dee Dee Bridgewater, Robin Eubanks, Theo Croker),Mark Whitfield Jr (Orrin Evans, Buster Williams, Joey Alexander) and many more.


 


In 2015, he has released his first album,“Fall Into the Place" which consists of all his original pieces from the Surca music. The album recorded with Adam Kolker (Billy Hart, Paul Motian),Pablo Menares(Melissa Aldana,Claudia Acuna)and Allan Mednard (Kurt Rosenwinkel. Aaron Parks).


 


 He has been actively playing in the city since the college years at the venues such as lridium, Smalls,Fatcat, Cornelia St Cafe,ShapeShifter Lab and many other places. He also has been invited to play some jazz festivals in China such as Hangzhou jazz festival, and given masterclasses in Beijing, Shanghai.


 


 He's been playing in some different groups with musicians such as Allan Mednard, Pablo Menares Glenn Zaleski(current pianist in Ravi Coltrane's), Simona Premazzi(current pianist in Greg Osby's and Jeremy Pelt’) and many more,as well as his own trio, quartet, quintet and larger ensemble.
