Come enjoy the jazz-influenced trip-hop/downtempo sounds of The Jared Lang Band, who will be performing live at Tokyo Lounge on Saturday 22 January.


The Jared Lang Band combines jazz, hip hop, funk and rock - sometimes exciting and energetic, sometimes downtempo and cool. A group of excellent musicians who are all established in their own right, Jared’s original music is influenced by artists such as Portishead, The Cinematic Orchestra, Herbie Hancock, Massive Attack, the Herbaliser and Miles Davis.


With vocalist Tea Lončar, saxophonist Dean Mongerio, pianist/keyboardist Jared Lang, bassist Connor Chappelle, and drummer Guy Mabanza, The Jared Lang Band has performed at various Beijing venues such as Tokyo Lounge, Modernista, The Bricks, and Jianghu Bar.

Anni Wang is a captivating singer who always performs with soul and passion. Under the guidance of world-class jazz vocalist Ines Trickovic, Anni has fostered a unique interpretation of jazz, and consistently brings that creative spirit to every stage she walks onto. In the past years, she has been performing jazz in major cities such as Macau, Guangzhou, Lisbon, Boston, Bangkok, and Beijing, among others. In 2015, she held a special concert entitled "Doppelgänger" in Chongqing, China, featuring two sides of her musical personality - the quiet and powerful, and the wild and humorous. She obtained a research Master's degree in Linguistics, and is fond of mixing multi-cultural influences into her jazz performances. Always working diligently on her vocal expression and musicality, Anni Wang has achieved a sound uniquely her own— a voice reflected by the soul, rhythm, and heartbeat of jazz.

Liu Peiyi, jazz saxophonist and composer.


In 2010, he received a scholarship and was admitted to the Berklee College of Music, where he studied with jazz saxophonist George Garzone, jazz educator Ed Tomassi, Hal Crook, and Dr. Shannon LeClaire. In 2013, he obtained a bachelor's degree in jazz saxophone performance from the college. In 2014, he recorded and released his first jazz album "15 Years" in Boston. In 2017, he received a scholarship and was admitted to the New England Conservatory of Music, where he studied under the world-renowned jazz saxophone educator Jerry Bergonzi, Grammy Award winner Donny McCaslin, Jazz Pioneer saxophone musicians Mark Turner, Miguel Zenon, and followed Ken schaphorst and Frank Carlberg to study jazz composition, also took a year of band rehearsal in the band class of legendary jazz drummer Bob Moses, and obtained a master's degree in jazz performance from the school in 2019. . In 2019, he recorded and completed his second original jazz album "Flow of Soul" in Boston. As a professional saxophonist, Liu Peiyi has lived in the United States for many years, and has maintained cooperation with international musicians and has been well received. Join legendary contemporary jazz bassist Dave Holland at Brown Hall in Boston in 2019. In 2013, he collaborated with the famous American saxophonist Wealter Beasley on Wealter Beasley's classic work "Free" Liu Peiyi held saxophone lectures and special concerts in many music academies in China, including Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Xi'an Conservatory of Music, Xinjiang Conservatory of Music Art Institute, Northwest University for Nationalities School of Music, and Beijing Midi School of Music, etc. Many of his students have been successfully admitted to the Berklee College of Music in the United States and the Prince Claude Conservatory of Music in the Netherlands.


This will be jazz saxophonist and composer Liu Peiyi's second original album "Flow Of Soul" recorded in Boston in 2019. This is a record of his years of studying jazz in the United States. Personal experience, as well as an original album of jazz teaching in China and the United States in recent years, precipitation and reflection on cultural exchanges

Singer: Sue Wang Wang Yisu (China)
