Come to School Live Bar on this evening for an experimental night of music featuring Li Xinyu and Yan Yulong.

Liu Xinyu: "Liu Xinyu, born in Beijing. Regular participant in Beijing's Zoomin' Night and MIJI experimental music performance series. In 2008, he started a project of solo guitar performance. The first time he performed, due to his enthusiasm for feedback and resonance, he succeeded in expelling every single audience member from the room with 30 minutes of non-stop, earsplitting guitar noise.

In recent years, Liu Xinyu has gradually shifted his attention from guitar to no-input mixer as a source of feedback. Instead of earsplitting noise, he pays more attention to subtle sound. Currently, he mainly uses no-input mixer feedback and self-made sound installations to explore micro sound worlds. He is also currently a member of Beijing bands Chui Wan and Deadly Cradle Death."

Yan Yulong: "1989, Born in Harbin, lives in Beijing. Frontman of neo-psycho rock band Chui Wan, actively working in Chinese younger generation of rock, experimental, improvised music scenes. He has collaborated with a variety of different styles of musicians, dancers, theaters, and composers. Individual plans are usually playing violin improvisation. Initially he played drone, minimalism and compose…is not limited thereto now."

Over a 20-year career, Swedish shoegaze titans The Radio Dept. have built up a devoted fanbase by weaving together hazy, atmospheric soundscapes. Now they head to Yugong Yishan as part of a two-date China Tour courtesy of New Noise. Their noisy, synth-drenched dream pop sound has seen them often held up on the same revered pedestal as shoegaze masters My Bloody Valentine and Saint Etienne, with their 2003 album Lesser Matters ranking 64th in NME's Albums of the Decade. It's sure to be a popular show, so get hold of your tickets now through Taobao.

The first three rounds of the BEIJING CALLING series took place during the three year period between 2006-2008. The aim was to allow the new generation of Beijing bands to collectively appear on bigger stage together for a series of showcase shows. The line-up of bands that took part in these first three rounds among others consisted of The Gar, Casino Demon, Carsick Cars, Hedgehog, Snapline, Steely Heart, and Omnipotent Youth Society and so on. After a break of eight years, BEIJING CALLING is finally ready for its fourth round! This occasion also marks the first time that the stomping grounds and gathering place for new Beijing bands – School Live Bar – and the supreme king of Beijing live houses – Yugong Yishan – are cooperating together. Acting as a promoter for the first time outside of the Wudaoying Hutong, School has chosen five of its most outstanding new young bands to take the Yugong Yishan stage and for this 7th generation of Beijing rockers create a memorable night for the ages!
