Hike up Immortal Valley, passing cliffs, waterfalls, boulders, and pools of water on the way to the 'Big Buddha' carved into the cliffside.

There's a lot to see on our Immortal Valley hike – pools filled with clear water, waterfalls, big trees, wild flowers, some distant Great Wall, the Miyun Reservoir, and long views of valleys and mountains.

We’ll walk up the valley, passing those cliffs, waterfalls, boulders, and pools of water on the way to the ‘Big Buddha’ carved into the cliffside. It’s an up-and-back trail, and you can make it into a more relaxed walk by not going all the way up. (Make a note with your booking if you’d like to try the longer hike.)

Visit Fangshan District for a short hike up to a hillside lookout, a big lunch at a country restaurant, and a 1.5 hour tour underground at Stone Flowers Cave.

Stone Flowers Cave (AKA Shihua Dong) is a karst cave in Fangshan District, in Beijing’s southwest.

It’s a scenic area, which means colourful lighting and good paths for walking on.

The main cave system has seven levels, and goes deep underground. The top four levels are open, and we’ll visit them all on the full 2.5km underground loop walk, bottoming out on Level 4 at 150m underground.

The top level of the cave is dry; the lower levels have drips and trickles of water, and they say there’s an underground river all the way down on the seventh level. The temperature inside the caves is a constant 13–16°C.

Down in the caves we’ll see a whole lot of speleothems: stalactites, stalagmites, columns, flowstone, ‘stone flowers’, ‘crystal flowers’, shields, rimstone pools, and cave popcorn.

Hike down to the White River and head downstream on trails, gravel tracks, and dirt roads by the riverside, passing below tall cliffs.

This is almost exactly the same White River hike that we do in summer and winter, but on this visit you don't need to get your feet wet unless you really want to. If it's a hot day, there's a good chance you will want to!

You'll see the running river, leafy green trees by the riverside, impressive tall and steep cliffs made from massive slabs of rock and boulders, and hopefully the local family of herons that nest high up in the cliffs.

Head out to Yunmeng Gorge for a hike-and-swim combo – perfect for hot weather, and fun for all ages!

The sandy beaches and pools of water in Yunmeng Gorge make a perfect place to picnic and swim, especially when you need to escape from the city.

We'll walk up the gorge and find a good spot, and you can take a dip in the water or follow our guides to hike further up the canyon.

If you'd prefer to concentrate on swimming, just relax in the water or in the nearby area. The guides will let you know when it's time to head out.

Hike an easy 6km down Intelligence Valley, using stepping stones to cross small streams, and stopping midway to picnic and explore a beach and rocks by a bend in the river.

The sandy beach and pool at a bend in the Intelligence Valley stream makes a perfect place to picnic, and play—dig in the sand, paddle in the shallows and look for fish, tadpoles, and frogs, explore the nearby rocks and boulders.

Driving time takes 2 hours to reach the hiking starting point. The first day of lunch and water need to be prepared by yourself. It is difficult to find shops buying things. You can leave some stuff in the vehicle. It is the same vehicle in 2 days.

It is difficult to find shops buying things there. (We are living in the city; It is easier to prepare some simple food the night before.) After hiking, we are back in Chifeng station. You can book the train after 18:00h.

Baihe is a canyon landscape and has been described as a "Hundred Miles Gallery". Baihe canyon keeps the natural features and there are relatively few villages. Therefore, it is suitable for natural exploration.

From Miyun walking along the Baihe (upstream), until the northern foot of Yunmeng Mountain, we will reach the most spectacular place at Baihe. You have a panoramic view of the majestic mountains and the winding the river. The scenery is breathtaking.

North Lingshan, locally referred to as the northern side of the main peak of Ling Mountain, is one of the famous attractions in the Beijing area. It is said that there are three Lingshan Mountains: East Lingshan Mountain, West Lingshan Mountain, and North Lingshan Mountain. However, the officially recognized Lingshan Mountain Scenic Area is located in Mentougou and known as "East Lingshan Mountain".

North Ling Mountain, also known as Jiushan or Jiushan Mountain, has an elevation of approximately 1911 meters. It is located about 140 kilometers west of Beijing, between the ridge of East Ling Mountain and Huangcao Liang. It is named after the wild garlic that blooms at the end of May each year. Also there are full of different flowers in an alpine meadow.

【The route description】The route is go up slowly. There is a slope (a bit deeper) before going on the top. The route includes gravel paths, grassy slopes, and narrow trails through Birchs, and most of time is dust road. (wearing white shoes is not a good idea.) The scenery is ever-changing and you won't feel boring. Also it is good for beginner.
