Comfortable learning environment and fabulous teachers!
I was previosly a student at the Hutong School and my hours were transfered to That's Mandarin when the Hutong School closed up shop. I've taken an intro class and 2 full classes so far. The two teachers I've worked with, Momo and Li laoshi, are extremely professional, friendly, and knowledgeable! They appropriately assessed my chinese level and are mindful in what areas I am improving in and what areas need work. The school uses an excellent online service called Nihaocafe.com that holds all the content from your classes, supplies review words and sentences, videos, listening questionaires, and more. I am still finding new functions in the platform. The 1-on-1 classes are held in private rooms with plenty of natural lighting and a giant screen to show the lesson. Couldn't be more inspired and happier!

Great tech + teachers
That's Mandarin uses a very organized online platform that helps you track your materials + vocabulary, and I appreciate their flexibility with online vs offline classes.
The teachers are also very attentive to your needs, customizing the lessons for your goals.
Overall great value + experience.

Great offline classes
I had a great experience taking offline classes in this school. The program is built thoughtfully, it is up to date and the knowledge you get could be used in daily life from the very beginning. The course runs smoothly, every lesson I learned more and more. The location is great, the teachers are competent, the atmosphere is friendly. Helpful online platform for self-study between classes, and for taking digital notes.
P.S. I appreciate the effort the school made to design the study material!

A comfortable place to learn Mandarin
As someone starting to learn a new language in my middle years, I have not been looking forward to going back to school. However, That's Mandarin provides a bright, comfortable and very supportive atmosphere that takes a lot of the sting out of sitting in a classroom. The teachers are all very enthusiastic and encouraging, making it feel like your are learning, no matter how much you might have been drained by your working day.

That's Mandarin, and the True Value of Language Learning
Why study a language? After all, in 2021, contemporary tools offer contemporary solutions to nearly any communication challenge. Or so we'd like to think.
The truth is that learning the mother tongue of those around you will profoundly transform your everyday life here. That's Mandarin has been instrumental to my progression in Mandarin Chinese, for myriad reasons.
- That's Mandarin's teaching staff was able to quickly and accurately gauge my language level, even accounting for differing levels between listening, reading and speaking, in my case. Together, they worked with me on aspects that needed attention.
- As someone balancing work and class schedules, I have found the flexibility offered by the staff at That's Mandarin to be crucial in maintaining my learning momentum. When conflicts come up, I have been able to adjust my schedule, and ensure I am continuously learning and making progress.
- Every single person on the staff in the Beijing Office has, through warm friendship and an outgoing attitude, helped me on my journey with Chinese. The conversations I've had, and friendships I've made, continue to remind me that everyone here in China, from work colleagues to the 保安 on the corner, is a person who I can chat with, learn with and connect with.
I have studied solo, and in short-term university courses, and by far the best experience — and fastest progress — has been my time at That's Mandarin. They have truly helped to open China to me, and beyond the practical uses for Mandarin in my life, I believe I am a better person for it, in large part thanks to them. I cannot thank, or recommend them, enough.
