Wandering China embarked upon a journey, both literary and physical, to Suzhou, ending up by two successful book launches. In partnership with Bookworm, Wandering China will share with you both the English language and Chinese language editions of the book on 28th April 2017 to reward our writers and readers.

The evening event will include an expert talk by the publisher, book reading and sharing, tourism expert sharing, and river town knowledge. We are also delighted to announce that there will be a special performance of the Kunqu Opera.

The evening will be finished by a discussion on a topic of significance which travelers are inextricably engaged in ‘Preserving the Margins: Tourism Growth and Heritage Protection’.

ABOUT WANDERINGCHINA

Wandering China is a Beijing based media and publishing company founded by Rose Quan specializing in travel writing and cultural exchange. The Writers' Club is a community where authentic experiences of China can be shared. The vision of Wandering China is to enrich cross-cultural engagement and discover the intricacies of China through diverse perspectives. We dig deeper, explore further and search more keenly to look beyond guidebook led interaction, cultural differences and language barriers.

Our core values mean we are committed to being consistently innovative, sensitive and creative as we explore people’s everyday lives and cultures. We publish simultaneously in English and Mandarin to communicate cross-cultural understanding; to help Western people understand Chinese perspectives, and vice versa.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Kunshan: On the Water Margin is authored by an international team of journalists and writers. It is a cultural guide which brings to life the folk narratives, historical figures, culinary traditions and colourful legends of the local people. It is designed to give the curious traveler understanding of the continuing influence Kunshan has had in shaping Chinese culture as we know it.
