The 7th China Independent Animation Film Forum is holding in Yushe Entertaiment Space this Thursday to Sunday.

Opening Program - Metaphor of Metamorphoses

Nowadays, independent animation film has gradually taken off its role of an entertaining show, marched forward to spread its branch in the fields of philosophical thinking and psychoanalysis. In this gradual evolution, modern humanities, for example, Franz Kafka's absurdist fiction, Sigmond Freud and his psycoanalysis theory, Immanuel Kant's critical philosophy, were cited into the expression of independent animation. Proof of fact, animation have expressive power in these fields, with its natural character of abstraction and subjective tendency. She easily gets rid of the restriction from the the surface, strikes straight to the everchanging conciousness. If absurdity is the nature of the world, then the art of animation was born with the gift of expressing absurdity. Taking this program, we walk out of the mundane, dive into the unknown where only observed by the animators.

Theme Statement

Metamorphoses is the most unique language animation owns. Apart from the stillness taking from the film shooting and canvas painting, animation practices freedom in the dimensions of time and space. Through metamorphoses, the artist recreate their subjective world, often closer to the reality, to complete a metaphor for life.

Peeling off the missionary purpose in the morderndays that people applied to animation, even peeling off the restriction of cinema language, what's the actual core of animation? What kind of animation represent beauty, in other word, what kind of animation held up the aesthetic persuit? With the help of this year's event, we would like to discuss those questions in depth.
