My review is not for the center itself, but rather for one physiotherapist who has been wonderful. I was not really sure about physio. I never understood it and just assumed it would not help me. I have been in and out of various hospitals for spine problems and recently had a very expensive surgery which failed horribly. I have been in so much pain and have felt that everyone in the medical field is just out to cut me open and get money out of me. I will need another surgery but I wanted to see someone who could teach me more about my problems, give me some understanding of how to manage my pain, and recover safely.
Sheilagh Anderson has been a real comfort to me. She is easy to talk to and educates you as she works, constantly giving advice and educating. Her sessions will depend on what you need and may include massage, exercises, manipulation, stretching etc. She took on my case even though she knew my situation was messy and complicated. She took my medical imaging to a visiting surgeon from HK to get me another opinion and reassure me about the surgery I will need in the future. I have learned a lot from her and now understand my body and sources of my pain. Even though I am still injured and my road to recovery will be a long one, I feel that I have some new tools to cope with the process of getting better.
I thought that doing a surgery was the right thing for me at the time, and I trusted the international doctors who told me that I had to do it. I really wish that I had met Sheilagh before I made that decision. I might have been able to save myself a lot of pain. I really suggest that anyone with back problems see her first and get the right, unbiased advice before rushing to go under the knife.
