Review of Sake Manzo
Sake Manzo has to be one of Beijing's finest Japanese restaurants. The Anjialou branch is small, so it's best to reserve. You can eat at conventional tables, at the bar or watch as cooks slice fish at the sushi bar. They make their own tofu daily, and it's deliciously fresh. Don't miss the sushi and sashimi - there's plenty to choose from.
And that's before we get to the sake - there's a huge choice, but the menu's tasting notes and tips on sweetness, strength and whether to drink each variety hot or cold really helps a beginner.
The decor is cool and attractive. Expect to spend around RMB 150 per person for a decent meal, but save some money and you're sure to enjoy a great dinner here.

Great Japanese food
I see this place hasn't been reviewed for a while, so readers might be wondering how it is these days. Answer: great. I've been going to this place for years, first at the original Anjialou location, and more recently at the new Tuanjiehu location. The food and service have never disappointed me. I would not say it's the absolute best Japanese food in Beijing, but it's certainly good. The service is good and the atmosphere is very nice - very relaxed. A great place to sit, chat, drink, and just keep ordering stuff until you are full.
