The amazing Uighur Sama Band brings to Beijing audience the energetic sounds of Xinjiang, with a mixture of traditional arabic songs and lively Spanish rumba classics, and with lyrics both in English, Spanish and Uighur.


The band, which name refers to a special dance that takes place after the worship during the Kur Ban, has entertained and impressed audiences for the past years, gathering a loyal crowd for each of their performances.

This new explosive cover band has been making you all millenials get on your feet with a bunch of well made 2000 hit songs. Be there for their solo debut this Friday, it promises to be another crazy weekend party night! The Sons of Thunder is a band started by four members from Stevie Mac and the Mac Daddies in the fall of 2017. The band came together to collectively indulge in their love for 90s and 2000s rock and has performed for charity events in Beijing such as Giving a Beat and Marcopalooza as well as at venues such as Temple, Yue Space, and Beijing Fang.

ADELAIDA is a trio band. Recently awarded Best Rock Band of 2018 by the Chilean Association of Musicians, Authors & Performers (Sociedad Chilena de Autores e Intérpretes Musicales SCD), the band ADELAIDA brings China and Japan the potent sounds of grungegaze that will blow your ears off. They combine demolishing drums, potent guitar riffs and sweetly dark voices; a music style defined by its lead singer as 'grungegaze', a combination of stoner rock and grunge.


Adelaida’s first album ‘Monolito’ was released in 2014. In 2016 they recorded their second album ‘Madre Culebra’ (Mother Snake), collaborating with Jack Endino, producer of Nirvana’s album ‘Bleach’.


Their third album ‘Paraiso’ (2017) and their new single “Fantasma” (again in collaboration with Jack Endino) will bring ADELAIDA on tour to various cities in China and Japan. This tour is collaboratively produced by Sello Mescalina (record label, Chile) Enlaces Musicales (Chile), Hanshing Agency (China) and Moorworks (Japan), with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Chile, and the Embassy of Chile in China and Japan.

Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening, CHAO’s Living Room (the ground floor restaurant) invites outstanding musicians and bands for Jazz, Rhythm & Blues and Funk to perform live for all the dining guests.


This coming Saturday, Shi Yuji will be leading the trio with bass player Xing Yifan and drum player Xia Ji, to perform live music at the Living Room, CHAO hotel.


Having been studying his jazz at the world-famous Prince Claus Conservatory, Shi Yuji has collaborated with musicians of different genres from all over the world. He once played for Blue Note Beijing Jazz Orchestra, Los Amigos Latin Jazz Group (China) and the Forest Band Beijing etc.


Apart from Shi Yuji, we will also be having:



  • Liu Zinan performing on Thursday night (19:30-21:10)

  • Xia Ji & Zhang Ke for Friday night (19:30-21:10)

Found Sound China is a collective of genre-bending Chinese and American music producers. Over the past 20 years, hip hop and electronic music cultures have flowed --often in underground channels-- between the U.S. and China. From The Wu-Tang Clan to Rap of China, the influence of this music on mutual perceptions the two countries is immense. The exchange of music has accelerated with the availability of digital tools that allow anyone to create, remix, and share music with the world. Through this process, the remix, sample, ‘beat’ have become the lingua franca of cultural interaction between young musicians in China and America. See some of these innovative young artists at Yue Space on July 26th.

The Black Art Jazz Collective is Wayne Escoffery on sax, Jonathan Blake on drumbs, James Burton III on trombone, Jeremy Pelt on bass and Danny Grissett on piano. The artists have played with big names including the Mingus Big Band, and the Duke Ellington Big Band and have been educated at big names like the New England Conservatory of Music and the Thelonius Monk Academy of Music. Ulysses Owens Jr. THREE, is a jazz trio featuring world renowned bassist, Reuben Rogers and the dynamic virtuoso, Joel Ross on vibraphone. Ulysses first conceived the idea for the trio, given his long standing reputation as a drummer with the Grammy-winning Christian McBride Trio, and Grammy-nominated, Joey Alexander Trio.


As Ulysses stated in an interview, “The trio is where I feel the most comfortable and have the space to develop and express musical ideas in the most ideal way.”


Reuben and Ulysses first worked together on Ulysses’ third album, “Onward and Upward” and they immediately felt a musical kinship. Since then have they been sought after as a bass and drum duo team on many recordings. Grammy-winning vocalist Gregory Porter and celebrated arranger, Vincent Mendoza enlisted the two on Gregory’s , “Nat King Cole and Me” album for the Blue Note/Universal Record label.

Carlos Henriquez was born in 1979 in the Bronx, New York. He studied music at a young age, played guitar through junior high school and took up the bass while enrolled in The Juilliard School's Music Advancement Program. He entered LaGuardia High School of Music & Arts and Performing Arts and was involved with the LaGuardia Concert Jazz Ensemble which went on to win first place in Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition and Festival in 1996. In 1998, swiftly after high school, Henriquez joined the Wynton Marsalis Septet and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, touring the world and featured on more than 25 albums. Henriquez has performed with artists including Chucho Valdes, Paco De Lucia, Tito Puente, the Marsalis Family, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, Marc Anthony, and many others. He has been a member of the music faculty at Northwestern University School of Music since 2008, and was music director of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra's cultural exchange with the Cuban Institute of Music with Chucho Valdes in 2010. In 2015, Carlos released his debut album ‘The Bronx Pyramid’ under Blue Engine. He has continued to tour around the world and perform masterful concerts.

Vocalist Sara Gazarek appears at Blue Note Beijing with Isaac Wilson on piano, Jonathan Richards on bass and Dan Schnelle on drums. At 34, the artist has already released four acclaimed albums. The Los Angeles Times called her “an early bloomer who has not only shown gratifying determination but also a capacity for artistic growth,” worth watching in a crowded field of female jazz vocalists.
