The Swiss trio 60 Miles did not take its name from a decade surely very rich in jazz, neither from a certain trumpeter with an emblematic silhouette (among others). But… it’s certainly jazz that 60 Miles propose. In our day, does a jazz still exist that refers only to itself and is nourished only by its own tradition ?

60 Miles choose to create its own music, inspired as much by Charlie Parker, Keith Jarrett or Cohen as Led Zeppelin, Radiohead or Beethoven. A music formed in the great tradition of the trio, but without the usual codes. A music where the rhythmic games take the principal place, between the fascination of the numeric abstraction and the enjoyable celebration of the ambiguity.

After publishing their first album « ...Ou à aison » (2015) 60 Miles have played in Switzerland, France, Germany, China and south America. At the moment the trio is presenting the new record: « Last Summer » 2018

For 40 years, Redhot & Blue has shared its signature combination of classic jazz repertoire and collegiate bonhomie in a variety of settings both domestically and abroad, ranging from galas in New York to churches in Copenhagen to jazz clubs in Tokyo.

In 1977, when the pop charts read like a who's who of mullets and bellbottoms, a few recently graduatedWhiffenpoofs joined with several members of the newly formed women's a cappella groups on campus in order to do something completely different. They wanted to travel back in time and pay homage to the great pioneers -- Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday, to name a few. They sang jazz like it was 1917, and Cole Porter had just graduated from Yale. They were Redhot & Blue.

Forty years later, we are still Redhot & Blue: our distinct arrangements and award-winning sound have grown a great deal since our founding and continue to set us apart in the music scene at Yale and across the globe. We love singing jazz, but our repertoire has expanded to include a wide variety of genres, from Broadway hits to the Beatles to Britney Spears. Through the dedication of our members, past and present, we've come together to chase the bounds of musical possibility, while always looking back to the greats who inspired the conception of Redhot & Blue.

Eric Allen、

Singer / songwriter Eric Allen brings the soulful sounds of America's heartland to the Beijing stage. In the spirit of southern blues and cowboy / outlaw country, Eric Allen played to audiences in New York's Greenwich Village for years. Now he performs throughout Beijing in the traditions of Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, and classic blues legends such as Robert Johnson, Lightnin' Hopkins, Muddy Waters, and Buddy Guy. Eric Allen has been featured at several Beijing venues, including Blue Stream, Jianghu, Parlor, Temple, E&A, Soi Baochao, MoguSpace, 69Cafe, Caravan and others as well as frequently hosting the weekly open mic at Paddy O'Shea's.

The duo began with two players who just wanted to write and play songs that told the true stories, and then they expanded into a three piece electric blues band. Dooder brought his cajon, his guitar and his soul man style.

Kamau brought his guitar and vocals. Together, the duo started crafting songs that weaved funk rhythms and blues to bring to stage songs like "If I Told You I loved You," "Dream Song," "7th Floor," and "While We Were Sleeping."
They bring the funk. They bring the fire. They bring the feeling that you're feeling in your bones as you're reading through their bio.

Yuni

Yuni's performances are sultry and soulful. Beautifully rendered bossa nova, neo soul, and lushly re-constructed country, latin and jazziness take you on a journey of sound and experience.

Echo Flower is from Tampa, Florida, USA. The duo has been performing together in Beijing and the US since 2012. Orlinda's soulful vocals and Keith's accompanying bluesy guitar are featured in their original songs and favorite cover tunes and add up to a genre they like to call "Psychedelic Soul / R&B."

Alien Radio is a three-piece (UK, Canada and Greece). They are a new band playing original rock songs. It's classic rock. It's modern prog. It's heavy. It's mellow. It's trippy. It's laid-back. It's in your face. It's quiet. It's loud. It's slow. It's fast. There's a mixture of classic (Sabbath, Rush, Floyd, Marillion) and modern progressive (Muse, Radiohead).

They're in the process of writing and recording our first tracks; they will be with you soon.

Rhonda (Prog Rock, Math Rock)Rhonda is a music project started in 2014 in Beijing by 4 friends coming from Italyand USA. Drawing influences from post-rock, post-punk, progressive metal and math rock, they have dedicated themselves to create instrumental music which combines melody and aggression. After a couple line-up changes following the departure of two of their original members, the band now consists of Tommaso (guitar), Nico (bass), Yiyi (drums), Antoine (guitar).

Wasted Laika (Punk, Rock)

A cluster fuck of sound and aggression, while Wasted Laika, the new rock band that’s been brewing up a storm in Gulou, have a hard time describing their bombastic sound, they do most definitely fall into the deviant hard edged punk realm. Best believe the hype.

Ember Swift is a Canadian musician and songwriter who has released 12 albums and 1 DVD project since 1996 through her own independent label “Few’ll Ignite Sound.” Her most recent album "Sticks & Stones" (2017) is a collection of work in three categories: Songs for Adults; Songs for Kids; and finally Songs for Adults / Kids, a community she feels deserves some separate recognition! This new body of work culminated over the past five years since becoming a mother of two in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

This is Ember's third release since moving to Beijing in 2008 and it demonstrates how music can serve as a bridge between the two divergent cultures: East and West. Fluent in Mandarin and French, Ember sings in all three languages (including English) and the band includes the Chinese traditional instrument (erhu) alongside of Western contemporary instruments. Couple this with Ember's signature elastic-jazz vocals, eclectic music styles, and poignant, astute lyrics, and this "folk" artist becomes hard to categorize but impossible to forget.

Styles on this album include jazz, folk, gypsy, rock, R&B, electronic, pop, folk and even Klezmer. The band, assembled in Beijing, includes America’s Anthony Vanacore on the drums, Ukraine’s Taras Korkots on bass, Canada’s Gabriel Beaudoin on electric guitar, Israel’s Yoav Volansky on keys, and China’s Wang Ya Qi on the erhu.

As the most forward-looking alternative record label founded by China in the last century, Bad Head by Modern Sky is a legendary name. After stagnation for many years, it reopened in recent years and successively released a series of records to try to retest Chinese contemporary art. The acumen and experimentality of the music scene. Now, after publishing 50 albums, the Bad Head label has begun to move toward “internationalization” and is no longer limited to Chinese music, but will increasingly cooperate with foreign musicians. The latest release is Mamor and Yoshida Tatsuya's album "Journey to the West." This will also launch a small tour for the China-Japan Avant-Garde combination. They will appear at the Beijing Strawberry Music Festival on May 1st, and will host the opening special event on the evening of May 2nd at the Evening Dawn Club - when musicians such as Li Jianhong will help out.

Tatsuya Yoshida: One of the most famous drummers in the world's avant-garde music scene, a giant of Japan's avant-garde music scene, Yoshida founded his most famous orchestra Ruins (Ruins) in 1985, and he was also Leading figures of many bands, such as Koenjihyakkei, Akaten, Korekyojinn, The World Heritage, Zubi Zuva, etc., have collaborated with musicians of various countries to publish many records.

Mamer: A Chinese musician from the traditional to the avant-garde. As a master of the Dongbula masters and Kazakh folk songs, Mamer founded the legendary band IZ (footprint) in 2002 and gradually developed his vast modernity. In music territory, in recent years, Bande, Mekrop, TAT, 51-Rayon, and Kunakar Bands have been established, and various types of personal albums have been introduced.

The two encyclopaedic musicians also have numerous creative branches and temporary combinations. In May 2014, they cooperated for the first time at the first Tomorrow Music Festival in Shenzhen and again in cooperation with Urumqi in October 2016. This time it was prepared and The depth of cooperation, the recording of the two people at that time, is now translated into this set of double-drum masterpiece - "Journey to the West." There are two CDs on the album, one called "See Mountain" and one called "See Water." Each has seven works. Now that each line is on the line, you can roughly appreciate the elegance of this combination.

Mamur and Yoshida also used bass and drums and vocals to create a violent, psychedelic and poetic drama of free improvising music in the land of avant-garde rock.

Satoshi Kataoka is a guitarist, composer and arranger living in New York City. He attended the Jazz Performance program at The City College of New York where he studied with world acknowledged musicians like, John Patittuci, Mike Holober, Scott Reeves and many others.

Satoshi has had opportunities to play with some great players such as John McNeil (Horace Silver, Tom Harrell, Billy Hart, Bob Brookmeyer), Joe Martin (Chris Potter, Brad Mehldau, Fred Hersch, Maria Schneider), Jochen Rueckert (Mark Turner, Marc Copland, Pat Metheny, Sam Yahel) and many more.

In 2015, he has released his first album, “Fall Into the Place” which consists of all his original pieces from the Surca music. The album recorded with Adam Kolker (Billy Hart, Paul Motian), Pablo Menares (Melissa Aldana’s Crush trio, Claudia Acuna) and Allan Mednard (Kurt Rosenwinkel, Aaron Parks).

Once upon a time, Teresa Deng is the voice of the East Asia, she is the super icon & star of all Chinese generations. Where there is Chinese, there will be Teresa's fans. Come and time travel back to the 1980-1990's listen to the sweet magic melodies of China.
