New Noise are very proud to invite múm from Iceland back to China for 4 specials shows in Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing celebrating 20 years of their groundbreaking album “Yesterday was Dramatic, Today is OK”. The band has widely been praised for being able to take their listeners to a magical musical universe. Since their foundation in 1998 múm have been constantly releasing music simply bursting with gorgeous melody, that relies heavily on electronic sounds and acoustic instrumentation. Their music is characterised by soft vocals, electronic glitch beats, innovative sampling and eerie effects with a variety of traditional and unconventional instruments. Musically, múm’s capability to build playful electronic sound-ornaments around simple melodies is in full bloom, their mesmerising concerts will take you straight on a dream trip to Iceland.

On December 23, 1999, roughly a week before the whole world was destroyed by the Y2K problem, Icelandic electronic band múm released Yesterday was Dramatic Today is OK.

On the evening of that day the band stood outside of a shop on the main street of Reykjavík selling the album to rushing christmas shoppers. But it wasn’t until later, when the album got its second release in 2000 and then the subsequent international release in 2001, that the albums ripples began to be felt.“Sublime and gorgeous” Pitchfork said in their review, calling it “one of the most deeply, purely emotionally affecting albums of the year.” The Guardian called it "passionate and gorged with special talent“ in their 5/5 review. This year sees the 20 year anniversary of this innovative and influential album, with a special vinyl release and a short tour to celebrate.

Italian top jazz vocalist Irene's master class & work shop in Beijing, can't miss this great oppotunity if you are a Jazz fan.

-----------------------------

Italian-born, Baltimore-based jazz vocalist Irene Jalenti has proven to be a dynamic, soulful, and passionate performer and composer who delves deeply into the meaning of each song and brings drama and conviction to her performances with her naturally deep tone and a four-octave range. Adept at scat singing and able to sing in five different languages, she connects with and delights a range of audiences. Her sound has been compared to legends such as Nina Simone, Cassandra Wilson and Beth Carvalho. Since moving from Italy to Baltimore in 2010, Irene has performed at top venues such as Blues Alley, the Kennedy Center, the Apollo theater, the DC Jazz Fest, the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, the DC Jazz Festival, the Keystone Korner and even the White House.

She has performed and recorded with the award-winning a cappella jazz ensemble Afro Blue, as well as with stars such as Esperanza Spalding, Patti Austin, the Count Basie Jazz Orchestra, and has shared the stage with great Cassandra Wilson. Irene has also done background vocal work for Yolanda Adams, Common, Chance the Rapper, Kelly Clarkson and Marc Anthony. ! Jalenti proves to be more than the usual jazz torch singer, but rather a complete composer and interpreter who can easily move from a love ballad to an activist song and on to a comical tune, always with depth, nuance, and conviction. With her clever arrangements she is able to move from a jazz standard to a Beatles' song passing through Sting, Joni Mitchell, and Radiohead while always keeping it true to her jazz roots.

Come Time travel with us back to the golden age !

China’s premier gypsy jazz ensemble, The Hot Club of Beijing was founded in Beijing, China on January 23rd 2010. This date not only marks the beginning of the band’s formation, but also marks the 100th birthday of gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt who is credited as being the creator of gypsy jazz as well as founder of the legendary band, The Hot Club of France, with violinist Stephan Grappelli in Paris, France in the 1930s. On this date in 2010 guitarist Vince Vahram (France) met clarinetist Toni Moretso (France) and guitarist Li Zhengkai (China) at a local jam session celebrating Django Reinhardt’s centennial. It was here that the three decided to start their own ensemble in tribute to the musical legacy started by Reinhardt and Grappelli, thus The Hot Club of Beijing was born. Lines:
