Manu Pékar
During the mid 80’s, and after scientific studies and an engineering diploma, young guitar player and composer Manu Pekar lands in Boston, USA, and (re)discovers jazz : the greatest names that one can hear in small clubs, festivals, jazz everywhere, the famous Berklee College of Music…”In the end, I learned a trade, an art, a way of life, almost everything”.
And a choc : the meeting with saxophonist Dave liebman during a workshop. Few years later, Manu Pekar records his first album as a leader for CBS/Sony Music with Dave Liebman as a guest. And on with the next one : a recording with the Big Band Passages, where he is musical Director/Composer as well as guitarist, and which counts in its ranks players like Riccardo Del Fra or Stephane Belmondo. Since then, Manu Pekar pursues his carrer as a composer (for, among others, Tommy Smith and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Brandford, Marsalis, Gary Burton, Jhon Scofield, music for film and stage) as a guitarist for his own project and dbMP, and teacher, notably at the Conservatory in Reims where he coordinates the Jazz department.
