Daniel Beaussier and Manu Pékar have formed a multi-thematic ensemble which brings together their artistic project under the label dbMP(x)


Repertoire is made of personal compositions and arrangements of music Masters, from traditional and modern jazz to chamber music including african rhythms, French songs and rock.

Daniel Beaussier comes from a classical music background (Oboe Grand Prix at Conservatoire de Lille) and moved to jazz and popular music.
Founder and artistic director of EDIM music school, he coordinates the undergraduate program DEM MAA and several ensembles. He is also president of FNEIJMA, the federation of music schools in France. He has collaborated with Mônica Passos, René Aurbry, François Cotinaud, François Jeanneau.
He played and recorded for Carla Bley Big Band, ean-Marie Machado ; Nana Vasconcellos, Daniel Goyone & Trilok Gurtu, CharlElie Couture, Hozan Yamamoto, François Mechali, Steve Lacy, Lydia Domancich et Stella Vander, Bernard Lubat, Noel Akchoté, Christophe Marguet, Bojan Z, Vincent Segal, François Merville, Bruno Chevillon…


Manu Pékar
During the mid 80’s, and after scientific studies and an engineering diploma, young guitar player and composer Manu Pekar lands in Boston, USA, and (re)discovers jazz : the greatest names that one can hear in small clubs, festivals, jazz everywhere, the famous Berklee College of Music…”In the end, I learned a trade, an art, a way of life, almost everything”.


And a choc : the meeting with saxophonist Dave liebman during a workshop. Few years later, Manu Pekar records his first album as a leader for CBS/Sony Music with Dave Liebman as a guest. And on with the next one : a recording with the Big Band Passages, where he is musical Director/Composer as well as guitarist, and which counts in its ranks players like Riccardo Del Fra or Stephane Belmondo. Since then, Manu Pekar pursues his carrer as a composer (for, among others, Tommy Smith and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Brandford, Marsalis, Gary Burton, Jhon Scofield, music for film and stage) as a guitarist for his own project and dbMP, and teacher, notably at the Conservatory in Reims where he coordinates the Jazz department.

The Mac Daddies have become one of Beijing's most popular party-bands. Nancy Jenkinson Brown is a phenomenal performer. This creative and talented singer has a huge repertoire that spans jazz, pop, hop-hop, rock, dance, electronic, metal, funk… You name it, she has done it.



In Asia, you may have seen her winning the crowd as the lead singer of Nancy & The Fantastic, improvising at Blue Note with the Moreno Donadel trio, holding the DJ floor at clubs all over the continent, hyping China & Singapore festival crowds with rap/rock group Jay Crew, hitting Russia with EDM group Galore, fronting the JZ Big Band in Shanghai, smashing out heavy metal tributes to Lemmy, singing cabaret with Moonglow Burlesque.



NANCY JENKINSON BROWN (LEAD VOCALS / LYRICS & MUSIC)



Nancy has played in many genres from electronica and dance projects with musicians from Hed Kandi, Fenetik & Blue Note Records (Trip series) to working and studying with jazz stars like Sheila Jordan, Tina May, Jean Toussaint and BBC award-winner Brian Kellock. Even appearing in Grand Theft Auto 3. She has sung all over the world from on top of the 4th Plinth in Trafalgar Square, London to a seaside stage in Vladivostok, From the Melbourne Jazz festival to the Shanghai Film Festival.



GABRIEL BEAUDOIN (LEAD GUITAR)



French Canadian Gabriel (Montreal, Canada) has been based in Beijing since 2014. He has hit the stage with several highly renowned Chinese and foreign artists including: 斯琴格日乐 (Siqingerile), 张靓颖 (Zhangliangying), 谭维维 (TanWeiWei), 黄绮珊(Huangqishan), Ember Swift, Jay Crew, Nancy J. Brown.



EMBER SWIFT (2nd GUITAR / VOCALS)



Canadian musician and songwriter Ember Swift has released 12 album projects since 1996 through her own independent label, Few’ll Ignite Sound. With many years of international touring experience, she continues to perform her original music throughout North America, Asia and Europe. Awarded 2nd place in China’s national TV talent competition program “Mama Miya 妈妈咪呀” (2014),Ember’s signature elastic vocals and punchy guitar stylings have given her a sound uniquely her own. Her most recent album “Sticks & Stones” (2017) is comprised of many diverse styles including folk, pop, jazz, rock, electronic, calypso and even Klezmer.



FIACH O’BRIAIN (DRUMS / PERCUSSION)



Fiach relocated to Beijing in 2015 and since that time, has been an active member of the Beijing music scene, performing with artists of many styles including Tia Ray, 斯琴格日乐,and 王韵壹. He also has 2 recordings with award-winning, Chinese, post-rock band 16mins. Fiach has also performed with many International musicians touring in China such as Laurent Maur, Emilie Calme, Sean Nowell, Hideaki Tokunaga, Gianni Denito, Burnett Thompson.



PHILIPPE MEGE (BASS / VOCALS)



A creative musician, music teacher and music producer from Cognac, France. Philippe is primarily a self-taught musician who started with the help of his parents: Raised in a multicultural household bathed with music. He moved to China in 2012 but, from age 12, he has been constantly connected with great international artists and has been performing through Europe, USA and Asia since 1992.

Jess began penning lyrics and singing at a young age. The songwriting major at the Berklee College of Music lured her to Boston where she studied under lyrical master Pat Pattison. Jess’s sensually lavish creative writing is featured in his 2013 book “Songwriting Without Boundaries.” In NYC she cultivated the voice of the singer that would soon make her mark in China. With over 20 years of performing in Beijing under her belt, she still maintains a great openness for creativity. She learned the basics of jazz at Berklee, but it was in Beijing that she grew into the mature vocalist, experienced singer-songwriter, actress and compelling creative force that she is today.

Kristian Blak is a Danish pianist and composer involved in a wide range of musical activities. Based in the Faroe Islands, he composes for international classical ensembles, performs locally and tours internationally as a musician and band leader with jazz and world music groups.



His compositions draws from his richly diverse background and include works for larger ensembles, ballet and opera. In his compositions draws from his richly diverse background.

Bárður Poulsen is a versatile bass player from the Faroe Islands. After getting a bachelor's degree at the prestigious NTNU jazz department in 2014, he's been performing all over the world and releasing critically acclaimed records with Espen Berg Trio, Wako and The Fjords. He has played with legends such as John Tchicai, Arve Henriksen, Tore Brunborg and John Paal Inderberg, and in 2018 he will play concerts in the Faroe Islands, Greece, Estonia, China, Denmark, France, Iceland and Portugal. Bárður's style of playing is melodious and rhythmical, and characterized by intense listening and interacting with his bandmates.

BEMET, an Israeli electronic music artist, keytarist and keyboardist. His primary Genre can be characterized as electronic hiphop but includes influences and specific songs from EDM, Electro pop, Trap, Bailefunk, Reggaeton, Drum & Bass, Jazz, and Rock. His primary following is, in addition to Israel, Brazil and India. He is also a producer, composer, pianist and performer.



Hod Moshonov was born in Israel on June 8, 1989. He began playing the jazz piano at the age of 5. At the age of 13, Hod founded his first Jazz band – "the Hod Moshonov trio". At the age of 14, he left on a worldwide tour with his band. He also participated in a special playlist on Israel television channel 22, which televised live from the "Milestone- Shuni" club. Later, in 2005, Hod received an invitation from the prestigious IAJE festival in New York City to perform his Jazz concert. Hod was awarded full scholarship for his studies in the Berklee College of Music. At the age of 18, Hod became a Grammy award candidate in the category of best modern instrumental album for his role of as the producer of the album of Dor Assraf. In 2011 the New York Times published an article reviewing his performance in the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz competition in Washington DC to which he was invited by Herbie Hancock and Danilo Perez.



Following the release of his first two albums in the year 2017, BEMET's following increased pursuant to his release of the four singles from his Brazilian project. Two of these singles were TudoBemet, and "Happy". These singles were wideley shared and viewed on social media in Israel, Brazil, Portugal and India, receiving millions of views on youtube. On October 2017 BEMET released his first video single- Sababa, which was directed at his Indian followers. The video was produced during BEMET's tour of India in the summer of 2017 and received positive reviews by the Indian Media, including The Times of India, Grapevine Magazine and UC News.

Dont miss this weeks World Music Thursday coz amazing SAMAGA is back.



The band SAMAGA happily marries different musical traditions. Their music find roots in India, the Middle East and worldwide musical influences with a joyful dash of modern harmonies. The band melts modern compositions into Indian ambiances, delivering their own interpretation of traditional Arabic Maqam and Indian Raga, constantly reinventing the soundscapes painted by the Indian Sitar, the Middle Eastern/Indian Percussions and the Oud.



Pierre Brahin is a French multi-instrumentalist, classical/electric guitarist and oud player. Yang Dong is an active percussionist in Beijing. His main collaborations are with the DA LV band, with whom he released the album “The World.” Ma Zheng is a Chinese Sitar player based in Beijing. He Kairan plays a multitude of percussion instrument. Together, these four talented musicians are the world music ensemble Samaga.
