Despite the rise of the likes of Element Fresh and Panino Teca, Bocata remains popular among a varied clientele that includes expat families taking it easy on the weekend and embassy staff stopping by for lunch. Salad portions are generous, and the sandwiches (average RMB 35) feature authentic delicatessen fillings like smoked pork, roast beef and German sausage, as well as cheeses like Emmental and Brie, all on fresh, toasted baguettes. Good coffee too. The white rock terrace makes this sandwich cafe a pleasant retreat when the climate is congenial.
