Depending on the weather, you might be able to make out another pointy architectural masterpiece
to the southeast, the giant inclined needle that is the China Millennium Monument. Erected to commemorate Y2K, it depicts a giant sundial, but it looks strikingly like a missle turret designed for use against an invading Borg armada. Climbing up the Millenium Monument grants sweeping views of Yuyuantan Park, and a vast deserted plaza stretching out to Fuxing Lu, which has been used as the set for more than one televised pageant.
