Traditional two-story restaurant in the Forbidden City's Zhongshan Park known for serving Red Mansion Cuisine. Essentially these are fancy dishes based on those described in the famous 18th century novel Dream of Red Mansions. Red Mansion banquets cost upwards of RMB 400 per person and should be ordered three days in advance. If you stop by for a snack during a Forbidden City visit, be sure to try the restaurant's dongcai roubao, a steamed bun filled with pork and mustard greens which has been popular here for some 80 years.
